I am addressing this group collectively in view of your

shared interests to know more about the Principal Upanishads

dear to SrI Bhagavad RaamAnuja SiddhAntham /SampradhAyam.

 

The Importance of Sri Ranga RaamAnuja Muni's BhAshyams

*******************************************************

There is indeed an abundance of Commnetaries in ENGLISH

on Upanishads following the adhvaithic intrepretation.

Precious little is available following the VisishtAdhvaithic

intrepretaion . This was a glaring disparity until Dr.NSA

Swamy stepped in and addressed this need in a magnanimous

way. He will be celebrating his 83rd birthday on March 4

and it is only through Bhagavath anugraham that he has been

able to share with us the meaning and explanations following

strictly the VaishNavite intrepreatation of major Upanishads

by the 16th Century AchAryan , SrI RangarAmAnuja MunigaL

of VELAmpUr , who recieved SanyAsAsramam from the 15th Pontiff

of ParakAla Matam . SrI RangarAmAnuja Muni lived in

the temple of SrI DhIpaprakAsar , which is adjasent to

Swamy Desikan's sannidhi at Thuppul agrahAram , a suburb

of Kaanchipuram . Basking from the steady radiance of Jn~Anam

from Lord DhIpa PrakAsan one side and from the Jn~Ana

jwAlai of Swamy Desikan on the other side , SrI Ranga RaamAnuja

Muni blessed us with his commentaries on the Upanishads and

came to be revered as Upanishad BHAshyakArar.

 

SrI Ranga RaamAnuja Muni has written atleast four

Sri Sookthis on SrI BhAshyam and its commentary by

SrI Sudarsana Soori on the latter and Swamy Desikan's

own brilliant SrI Sookthis on VisishtAdhvaitha doctrines .

His commentaries on Upanishads that Dr.NSA Swamy has

drawn from are thus authentic , precise and mirrors

the teachings of Bahgavath RaamAnujA Himself and His

AchArya paramparai.

Number of you have supported the release of Monographs by

the eminent scholar , U. Ve. Dr.NSA Swamy of Bangalore for

the above reasons.Some of you have learnt these Upanishads

through the KaalakshEpam route under the sacred feet of

Dr.NSA Swamy .He has released sofar the following two

volumes on Upanishads:

 

1.Selections from Upanishads, 2002

This consists of the text of the selected manthrams

(910 in all ) from 14 Upanishads and their translations

in English . There were 32 supporters all in all .

Those of you who have supported this kaimkaryam have

either recieved the copy of this monograph or will be recieving

it from Mrs. Harini Bhagavan of kansas. She is the grand

daughter of Dr.NSA Swamy . The index of the 910 manthrAs

covered in this volume is of great help to the user .

 

2. Principal Upanishads : Volume I , February 2003

This monograph covers the text , translations and

commentaries following Ranga RaamAnuja Muni of NINE

Upanishads . Dr. NSA has covered ALL the 603 ManthrAs

in this monograph. adiyEn will review the contents of

this brilliant monograph , which is going to serve

generations of VedAbhimAnis to become familiar

with the VisishtAdhvaithic intrepretation of

Upanishads . Again , the index of the 603 manthrAs

covered is of tremendous help to the user.

 

Your valued support has been instrumental in covering

the costs of printing of the above two volumes. Thanks

3. Principal Upanishads: Volume II , April 2003

This volume will focus on all the manthrAs of

the gigantic ChAndhOgya Upanishad dear to Bhagavad

RaamAnujA . Translations and commentaries on

each of the manthrAs will be included. Proof reading

is going on now by Dr.NSA Swamy . It will be Dr.NSA

Swamy's present to us for the upcoming Tamil/Telegu/Kannada

New year.

 

4. Principal Upanishads: Volume III ( Future date)

This volume will cover all the ManthrAs of

BruhadhAraNyaka Upanishad , their translations

and commentaries as per Ranga RaamAnuja Muni.

 

The cost of releasing the Volume II

************************************

We need to raise Rs.40,000 (approximately

$850) to cover the costs of paper , printing

and release of the Volume covering ChAndhOgya

Upanishad .

 

We have recieved the first pledge of $108

from a dear devotee for this release. We need

to raise the remaining $748 to continue with

the flow of this series on Upanishads .

 

May I request you to pledge whatever you can

to reach the target figure and go past it

so that any left over funds can be used for

releasing the final volume on BruhadhArANyaka

Upanishad ?
