Guest guest
SrI: Dear SrI Raghavan: The questions that you have asked are profound topics that you have to absorb from Qualified AchAryAs .They are complex and at the same time are fundamental to understand and firm up in one's mind as a SrI vaishNavan. I have number of suggestions for you. (1) at an elementary level , You can read the clearly written overview on these basic concepts by U.Ve. V.N. Gopala DesikaachAr Swamy of Oppiliappan Koil. It may be available at Nrusimha PriyA Office at Mylapore. (2) Vaishnavism : Its philosophy , Theology and Religious discipline , Dr S.M. Srinivasachary Motilal banarsida Publishers , Madras branch . (3) SrImad Rahasya Thraya VivaraNam : By HH the 45th AhObila Matam Jeeyar ( by the Current Jeeyar : HH SrI NaarAyana YathIndhra MahA Desikan ); also available at Nrusimha Priya Office at Mylapore. (4) The Philosophy of VisishtAdvaithA : Dr.M.E.RangAchAr Publishers: SrI NithyAnandha Printers 46, 4th Cross, Ashok Nagar Bangalore 560 050 Phone 652 60 27 5) Regarding the thri GuNams , Bhagavath GitA Commentary by either ThirukkaLLam Swamy in Tamil or the one By SrI V.N.GopAla DesikAcchAr Sawmy would help you get the fundamentals . These are important concepts that we must comprehend clearly to understand the uniqueness of VisishtAdvaitham and where it differs from other Darsanams . It will be a wonderful Journey for you . You are asking the right questions , which is the first step to delve deeper in to our SampradhAyam and Darsanam . After these readings , You might wish to seek a sadAchAryan and perform SaraNAgathy at His sacred feet to have AchArya Sambhandham. In quick response to Your current questions, Prakruthi is one of the achith or achEtanams . It is also insentient or the one , which does not have consciousness . Chith in contrast to achith possesses knowledge. According to our VisishtAdhvaitha VedAnthA , we have three subdivisions of Achith or achEthana: (1) Prakrithi : the primordial Cosmic matter and its evolutes (Mahath , ahamkAra et al)include the material Universe .Prakrithi means that which undergoes changes.Prakrithi is an achEthnam or non-sentient one or Jada Dravyam.Prakrithi has 3 basic attributes:Satthva , RajO and TamO guNAs. Creation of the Universe and dissolution of the Universe by our Lord from Prakrithi is a special and important concept to understand ( Vyashti srushti, Samashti Srushti , PancheekaraNam et al). Our Lord is the Jagath Kaaranan (primary cause of the Universe). The relation between the Lord as the creator of the Universe and the Universe itself is a (2) Nithya VibhUthi: SrI Vaikuntam , the transcendental universe of SrIman NaarAyaNa made up entirely from pure saathvika substance ( Suddha Sathvam). (3) Kaala or Time with all its subdivisions like seconds, Minutes, hours ,days , months, pakshams ,ayanams and samvathsarams/years. It is an " independent and real " substance(the last of the three achetana tatthvams) and has an important status as prakruthi. It co-exists with prakruthi and is not part of Prakruthi. It is infinite and eternal . Hours and days are modifications or " different states of infinite kaala (akhaNda Kaala) " . It is also eternal with no beginning or end. Swamy Desikan's NyAya SiddhAnjana and NyAya parisuddhi covers in great detail the subtle aspects of PramANAs (valid means of knowledge) and pramEyAs( what is to be known as ultimate truths such as Isvaran, soul/aathamn/chith and achith/insentient . Swamy Desikan has written 14 VedAnthic works expounding , defending and reinforcing AchArya RaamAnujA's doctrines immortalized in SrI BhAshyam . In summary , the VisishtAdhvaitha VedAntham is a blissful ocean to immerse in .AchArya Sambhandham is absolutely essential in such a journey . On this SvabhAnu samvathsaram's first day, I wish you all success in undertaking this journey of discovery about our sampradhAyam and Darsanam.
