Dear SrIman Sampath KumAran :

 

A strict SrI Vaishnavan /ParamaikAnthi will not perform

Navagraha Homam.

 

Sudarsana Homam is an auspicious homam .

This needs enormous sanctity to perform

at home by competent adhikAris. The sankalpams

for doing at home and at temple are different.

The Manthrams used are powerful and any asuddhi or

theettu should not be anywhere near.

As long as those conditions are met , I do not

see any reason not to reserve it to specific

days or Month .

 

Having said that, AmAvasyai is not a good Thithi since

it is the day for Pithru Kaaryams. Ditto for ashtami,

chathurdasi and PourNami. Regarding preferred Nakshathrams ,

RohiNi, Mrugasseersham,ThiruvAdhirai/AardhrA ,Punarvasu,

Poosam /Pushyam ,UthrAdam, Hastham , Chithra, SvAdhi,

anusham , jyEshtA ,Uthram , SravaNam , dhanishtA , Revathi

are preferred Nakshathrams .Among the preferred months are,

ChAndramAna VaisAgam( April-May) , SrAvaNa ( July-August),

Aasvayuja ( Sep-October) , Maargaseersha (Nov-Dec) ,

Maagha (Feb-March), PhAlguna (march-April),Magham( Feb-March).

 

For Koil, these restrictions can be loosened because

of Bhagavath Saanidhyam.
