SrI:

Dear SrI Sudarsana BhakthAs:

Through these slOkams , SrI Koora NaarAyaNa Jeeyar pays

additional tribute to the mighty Sudarsana JyOthi/Tejas.

SlOkam 8:

*********

dhrushtE adhivyOmachakrE vikacha

nava japA sannikAsE sakAsam

svarbhAnur bhAnurEsha sphuDamithi

klayan nAgathO vEgathOasya

sahasA sprashtumadhyApi nEshtE

vihatayE bhanavO bhAsvaraa va:

SlOkam's Benediction:

**********************

" BhAnava: ahitha vihatayE gaDanthAm "

May the powerful rays(JwAlais) of Sudarsana

BhagavAn protect you by destroying your enemies!

Extended Meaning of the SlOkam :

*********************************

On one occasion , Sudarsana BhagavAn was seen

on the sky with His unique redish hue (from

His JwAlais) as a huge red semparutthi (JapA)

pushpam .One of the nava grahams , Raahu ,

mistook that red object in the sky to be

his natural enemy, Sooryan and travelled

towards it.As he approached that red object ,

Raahu was burnt by the intensity of the heat

geenrated by the Sudarsana JwAlais and had to

make a hasty retreat. From then on , Raahu

was hesitant to approach Sooryan even during

regular grahaNa kaalams since he is not sure

whether it is the real Sooryan or Sudarsanar.

Only after completing a deliberate evaluation

of the nature of the object , he makes the move

towards the real Sooryan. May that Sudarsana

BhagavAn's jwaalais more powerful than the rays

of Sooryan protect you all by destroying your

enemies !

Additional Notes:

******************

It is our experience to see the ChAyaa graham Raahu

taking longer to cast its shadow on the Sun during

Soorya GrahaNam times. It is also true that

the same Raahu takes much shorter time to envelop

Chandran during Chandra GrahaNam times.

The power of the JwAlais of Sudarsanar to burn

opposing objects (enemies ) to ashes is referred to

in Sudarsana Kavacham passage:

" Jwaladh anila nibham , vahnimugrasTa peeDam

prathyAleeDam ThrinEthram RIPU GANA DHAMANAM

bhAvayE ChakrarAjam " .

Besides His JwAlais, one of the eyes of Sudarsanar

is Agni . Bhagavaan Sudarsanar is not stationary

waiting for the enemies to come near Him ; He chases them

and destroys them . His prathyAleeDam pose (mobility pose

with one foot forward) permits Him to jump in to action

rightaway.

SlOkam 9:

Benediction:

*************

" Dhivya rasmi: va: preethyai bhavathu "

May that Sudarsana JyOthi confer happiness

on You always and be fro your preethi !

Extended Meaning of this slOkam :

**********************************

When one looks at the JwAlais surrounding

the circumference of Chakra Raajan , that region

appears like the gigantic LokAlOka Parvatham (mountain),

which surrounds the Earth. There are areas in

these mountains , where Sunlight does not enter.

These LOkAlOkA mountains are also known as

ChakravALA mountains.The limbs of Sudarsnar

known as arams (like spokes of a bicycle wheel)

are compared to the forests on the earth.

The gigantic nEmi of Sudarsanar like ChakravALa

paravtham surrounding the earth creates darkness

for the enemies and light for devotees. It has been

indicated earlier that there are areas among this

ChakravALa mountains , where Sun's rays do not enter

and therefore are forever dark.

BhUmi has the Meru Mountain with a lofty peak.

Just as Meru mountain is at the center of

the periphery of BhUmi,Lord Sudarsnar is at

the epi center of His nEmi.His hands are like

the peak of Meru mountain. His naabhi is the island.

The spokes (arams ) are the forest of that chakram.

May that mighty Sudarsana JwAlais around His nEmi

resembling the gigantic LokAlOka parvatham surrounding

the Earth give happiness to you always!

Additional Notes:

******************

Meru mountain with its golden peak (hEmAdhri tungam)

positioned at the center of the Earth is compared to

the body of the golden hued Sudarsana BhagavAn at

the center of the nEmi of the Sudarsana Yanthram

(dEvam HemAdhri tungam madhya dEsE dhrushtam ).The Lord's

arms are compared to the tall peak of Meru mountain

found on earth ( pruTu bhuja sikharam Bibratheem).

The naabhi of the Yanthram is the island seen in

BhUmi ( Naabhi dhvipA).
