SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

We appear to ask AzhwAr: Just like Vaishnava

matham, Saivites also exist in the world; why do you

tell Sriman Narayanan's greatness and Supremacy

alone-AzhwAr replies [as if the Lord Himself asks] :

That needs to established with the help of statements

from scholars and Vedaanthins who prove Your Supremacy

with pramANam (proof) from Saasthras and Vedas

effortlessly and very easily.

thaathulaavu konRaimaalai

thunnucheNYcha daichchivan,

neethiyaalva NaNGkupaatha

ninmalaa!n^i laayaseer

vEthavaaNar keethavELvi

neethiyaana vELviyaar,

neethiyaal vaNangukinRa

neermain^in_kaN ninRathE (9)

Oh Lord- akilalahEyaprathyaneeka! (one who is devoid

of any imperfections!) ananthakalyANa guNaarnavaa!

(Lord possessed with the most auspicious attributes!)

The One whose Lotus feet are worshipped in strict

protocol (by offering flowers and praising You with

sthOthras) by Sivan (who has matted locks with flowers

of konRai and garlands)! This worshippable nature of

Yours and only Yours is established very clearly with

saasthric proofs and logical explanation quoting Vedas

by the great scholars who have studied Vedas and

Saasthras; who perform Saama gaana yag~nas; who have

studied tarkka (logic) saasthras and meemaamsa

saasthrAs. It lies only in You.

There are many who pray to Siva- yes. It is true. But

Sivan himself does consider himself as Parathvam

(Supreme Lordship) and shows that through his

anushtAnam (practice). All flowers are meant only for

SarvEshwaran i.e. You and hence, he has taken only

koNrai flower for himself, if someone is to worship

him. He also wishes to serve you as your sEshan and

shows to the world the same. Thus, he is not beyond

imperfectiosn and he has something to be cleansed by

praying to You. That’s the reason He does severe

penance meditating Your lotus feet and detaching

himself from pleasures with vairAgyam. Thus You, being

meditated by Sivan- are the ninmalan; amalan and

vimalan (without any kind of imperfections). Even

Sivan’s sins get cured due to Your grace alone is

proved here. If such is the case and if he is

Srivaishnavan, should he not have such marks, and why

does he wear ashes all over his body? He does due to

(neediyaal vaNanguginRa) atharvasiras. In atharva

siras, there is away of devotion indicated and he has

immersed himself in it and hence has applied the ashes

as mentioned.

You have mentioned to him:

Tvam hi rudrO mahAbAhO mOhasaasthrANi kaaraya |

alpAyAsAm darsayithvA Salam sIgram pradarsaya: ||

Also, You have instructed him to move hands, go ahead

and propagate mOha saasthram to the world and make

aasuric people act. And grant them fruits

materialistic that they ask for- Thus You granted such

a capability to Sivan. He does what is instructed by

You. He is not to be blamed nor You; as it is karma

and your sEshithvam (mater to him). You are thus

akilahEya prathyaneekan and only You.

With these vacahanams of Yours (as above), these

people themselves add some more and establish and

propagate Saiva matham; But the vedaanthic scholars

who know all sthuthis, smruthis and ithihaasa purANAs,

logic and saasthrAs, knowing fully well of the

undisputed Supremacy of Yours, establish Your

Parathvam very easily. vEdAnAM SaamavEdhOsmi; They

perform nishkAmya yaagams and with full of Sattva

guNAs; scholars and hence what they says is true..

Sathyam Sathyam Punas sathyam… Vyasa says: Vedaas

saathram param naasthi NA DHAIVAM KESAVAATH PARAM.

Thus, considering the Saiva Agamam, which is against

Vedas, we (VaidIkAs) will not consider Sivan as

Parathvam.

It is also well established by our Acharyas and sages:

By YamunAchAryar in SthOthra Rathnam, Paraasarar in

Vishnu purANam.

Thus this pAsuram mentions that the devotees who want

other materialistic and other fruits and the

Paramaikaanthis as well – consider Sriman Narayanan

alone as Parathvam as openly shown and instructed by

Rudran himself.

eKa yEva nArAyaNa aaseeth na brahmA; naISAna: Sruthi

establishes clearly. Only Narayanan was there during

Cosmic dissolution; not BrahmA; Not Isan…

When considering nyAyam, logics, saathrAs, as per

Sages, scholars who have studied Vedas- ViswarUpan

VishNu alone is ArAdhyan; He alone is Paradevatha is

unambiguously explained. Further “Paasupata Saivam”

uses “Anumaanam” and does not accept the Veda. Using

the same Anumaana pramaana it is also possible to

prove anything.. “Anthavatvam Asavagjnyathaa Va” If it

is again taken that Pasupathi is as such told in

Paasupatha Saivam itself, then he too has to become

the subject of creation, sustenance and destruction.

Therefore it is proved that Pasupathi does not turn up

with omnipresence, omniscience and omnipotence, purity

and divinity. Therefore the “Paasupatha Saivam” which

is the philosophy and practice of “Paasupatha Saiva

Aagamam” by Pasupathi (Paarvathy Pathi Rudra) is

illogical. It is not only against the Veda but also

against logic.

All Vedas and other holy scriptures talk about Him as

He is BrahmA, Siva, Indra, AkAksA, et al. He is

ParamaswarAt. The universe came out of Vishnu. He

created thus Chathurmukha BrahmA and others to

undertake specified dutries (onRum dEvum ulagum-

NammAzhwAr TVM- 4.9). All including BrahmA and Rudra

are subservient to Him. He is AdhidEvA. Creation is

child’s play to Him; He is not subservient to anyone.

Vishnu is sarvagnan, Sarva shakthan; SarvEshwaran,

Sriya: Pathi, Parama kaaruNikO Bhagawaan.

There is no God greater than Vishnu; No one can

measure His greatness either. There is nothing equal

to Vedas and saasthrAs- says Sage Vyasa.

[swamy Desikan states in SaraNagati Deepika-sloka 19-

For those, who have found that Siva is under Your

control from episodes, known as (1) Battle of Kaasi,

(2): Vrukaasuran history (3) History of anthakan (4)

Siva’s bow (5) BANAsuran (6) Origin of river Ganges

(7) Siva’s birth, naming and his conversation with

Naanmukhan and the like

and Siva’s own words from the episode of the fear

which emanated out of a crime against Ambareeshan, a

great devotee and from the Sage’s curse, which Siva

had to face; Thus Swamy Desikan says: who else is

there to be reached other than You as the refuge..]
