Born as cowherd Boy, You destired for PiraaTTi-

Nappinnai. You could have achieved the same with Your

Sarva shrEshtathvam. Why did you have to be born

in Ayar kulam? (cowherd folks) In both worlds lower

and upper (i.e. leelA vibhUthi and Nithya vibhUthi),

none can comprehend and think of Your glories

fully! This is the most wonderful deed! Not just that.

The way You coundct and administer everything is

grander and grander. Your strategies are all

most wonderful. athyAscharyam.

 

You are SarvEshwaran. Why did You desire to hug those

cowherd woman’s shoulders? You became a cowherd Boy

and then desired for the same. Not the other way. If

that is so, why did You make her be born as a cowherd

girl! You had wished for the same even before! That

time- what was Your age! How is that possible! For the

wedding, You had to kill thesoe strong seven

bulls. Even if You were a kshathiyan, You could marry

a lower caste girl. Why did You have to come as a

cowherd Boy! If one starts to think and try to

comprehend all this, there is no end. Thus who can

attempt to know Your glories in both worlds? None at

all. avignAtham vijAnathAm…

 

There are two maayai in You. One is Prakrithi- Cosmic

matter. That does everything on Jeevathamas based on

their papa puNyas to make them come back to this world

again and again. Another one is Your sankalpa rUpam.

The first one- we are all bound. Baddha jeevars. Not

You and Nithyars (and also mukthars). Hence You can

not say that You also were to be born as this cowherd

Boy due to that maayai of Prakrithi. You were born due

to Your own sankalpam (free will). Thus, You knew the

reason as to why You are born and

desire for Nappinnai. All this is wonderful. Okay to

fail in full understanding of such wonderful deeds of

Yours like jagath kaaraNathvam, Sarvagnathvam, Sarva

sEshithtvam etc.. due to Your limited jnAnam. (or no

jnAnam); But even such desire for cowherd woman – and

be born as cowherd Boy- we are not able to comprehend.

– none in both worlds. That is the

wonder.

 

Vagutthalum maayam aakkinaay- It was not meant for You

and was only meant for samsaaris like us. Even that-

You had desired and performed so gloriously and thus

made it a wonder. The ordinary deeds of samsaaris- You

perform so wonderfully. Thus You made it

different.There could be many interpretations of this

line. There are many examples for the same. One of

them is next PAsuram. Says- Periya vacchaan Pillai in

his commentary.

 

there could be other interpretation also.

Maayamaaya maayai kol- adhanRi nee vagutthalum- Is

that vibahrItha or no jNAnam? anjnAnam? No. adanRi-

Not just that. You help us in granting the limbs, the

five sense- the intellect and the discriminatory

powers, etc.. and enable jeevars to know what is right

and wrong for them to take a right track to attain

Him. Still they do in their own (wrong) way against

saasthrAs and Your agnyA and hence You made it maayam-

with the Prakrithi sambandham (association with Cosmic

matter- Prakrithi). Vagutthal- shrusti-

creation. Maayamaakkinaay- can mean samhAram.

 

Thus the next PAsuram is born where people who are

under the wrong impression that samhAra karthA Rudran

is Paradevathai- get clarity as to who is Parathvam.

That’s why here SamhAram is also performed by You is

mentioned by AzhwAr.
