SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

The world does not enjoy His solwseelyam and

sowllabhyam; - AzhwAr lamented in last verse. Here he

elaborates His wonder of appearing in different forms

at different places..

maNNuLaaykol viNNuLaaykol maNNuLE mayangininRu

eNNum eNN agappadaay kol enna maayai, nin thamar

kaNNuLaaykol sEyaikol ananthanmEl kidantha em

Oh the Lord [due to my fortune]- the one who reclines

on AdhisEshan! The most pristinely Purest One wearing

thirutthuzhaay (thuLasi) garland! You reside in this

world; in the other world as well (i.e. in Prakrithi

as well as Paramapadham or in other words- in leelA

vibhUthi and in Nithya vibhUthi). You do not reside in

the heart of those who are caught and are attracted to

the materialistic and worldly pleasures alone; [at the

same time], You are seen and enjoyed physically by

Your dearest devotees; You also are afar for some; One

can never utter the great wonders of Yours performing

such mysterious appearances!

If one is at one place, he naturally can not be at

another place. It is but natural. However You alone

can be at the same time- in one place and also at

another place. [angu vaitthu ingu piRandhu..] You are

in Prakruthi maNdalam as well as in Paramapadham. Not

only for thought; You are not seen by eyes also. Due

to Your dhivyAthma swarUpam, You are there manifesting

everywhere. [antharbahischathassarvam vyApya

nArAyaNasthitha:]. He can take varius forms at the

same time and hence He takes one rUpam here and

another in other place. [e.g. in one dhiya Desam Kutti

KaNNan and in other- Sri Raman-. In one reclining Sri

Rangan and in another ThiruvEmkatamudaiyaan et al.]

For some He is not seen by eyes [but is enjoyed in the

mind]; For some neither seen nor is thought of even in

their minds.- can also be one interpretation which can

be seen by the line.. ‘maNNuLE mayangi ninRu eNNum

ninthamar..’-

One can also refer to Vedantha Deepa mangaLa slOka

here- says Ri UttamUr Swami in his commentary.

sEyai kol- You are also at far distance- says AzhwAr-

why did he say this separately? When people are

attracted to vishayams (worldly objects), He does not

reside there; nor does He stay in their hearts. Their

prospect of attaining Him sooner does not arise- is

described in this line “He is at a farthest distance”.

Also for some He is at closer quarters and for other

just in their thoughts and hearsay- not seen to be

enjoyed.

anathanmERkidantha- He is on AdhisEshan- thus He is

enjoyed physically [prathyaksham];

punanthuzhaayalanga- Wearing most fragrant thuLasi

garland- one can enjoy and infer His presence with the

fragrance spreading there from His Thirutthuzhaay.

puNNiyaa! He is the cause for ishtaprApathi;

punithanE- He is the cause for anishta nivratthi;

Thus He takes so many forms available at all places;

spreading his fragrance everywhere; For many- seen by

Them as well. Still the world does not realize Him or

see Him as the Supreme Lord.
