Dearest Srivaishnavas,

After enjoying ArA amudhan of Thirukkudanthai, AzhwAr

enjoys the lion of ThirukkuRunkudi.

The water crows immerse themselves in the river canals

and take bath, and when a fruit from a nearby tree

falls into the water, the darting fishes jump with

fear thinking that it is the crow that has fallen

inside the waters to catch them- such most beautiful

fertile place is ThirukkuRunkudi. Oh most merciful

Lord of ThirukkuRunkudi! Parama dhayALu! You tore the

body of strong shouldered, fearless angry

HiraNyakasipu into two pieces and paved the way fro

Prahalada to please yourself for having saved the

dearest devotee of Yours. You alone are that Most

ferocious most merciful Lion faced Lord-Nrsimham.

Nedunthagaay! Thagai- mercy- compassion of His- is

huge- GRAND- beautiful; merciful.. [swamy desikan has

sung 108 verses on His dayaa gunA alone].

Even I enjoy You here at ThirukkuRunkudi, I realize

that it is You who went to tear the fearless

HiraNyakasipu into two pieces. You are Narasinga

mUrthy. When the fishes get scared even for the fruits

falling into the waters, this rakshasa did not get

scared and feel any fear after having seen your

NarakEsari rUpam also.

Thirumangai AzhwAr had praised the Lord of

ThirukkuRunkudi and he ascended to Paramapadham fron

this dhiyva desam:

Let us reflect upon one of the ThirukkuRungudi

Paasurams of Thirumangai AzhwAr:

NinRa Vinayum Thuyarum keda Maamalar-yEnthi ,

senRu paNimin yezhumin Thozhumin ThoNDIrkALL ,

yenRum iravum pahalum vari vanDu isai paada ,

kunRin Mullai ManRidai nARum KURUMKUDIYE

Oh servants (of Sriman Narayanan)! The Pure you- take

the agni (fire) for dhoopam; neer (water) for argyam;

the coloured flowers for archana.. etc..(fragrant

dhravyams like sandal paste); offer anjali to PerumAn

by prostrating Him.. And be saved. This PerumAn has

got dark blue ocean like ThirumEni (Divine Body). He

resides permanently in this Divya Desam of

ThirukkuRunkudi, where the tall buildings appear to

touch the crescent moon that loiters in the sky.
