Dearest Srivaishnavas,

No doubt one can meditate and enjoy any of His

avathArams and develop bhakti towards His lotus feet.

He is merciful to bless the devotion in us. However,

the Kutti KaNNan- with adharAhitha chaaruvamsa nALA;

the flute in His red lotus mouth- curvy bimbha fruit

like lips; the divine blue hued dhivya mangaLa

thirumEni; the Kutti KaNNan’s pastimes; His stealing

butter, stealing the hearts of Gopikas, playing fun

with Chathur mukha BrahmA, Devendran, and later

conquering them effortlessly, making them realize

their false prestige; Battling with Rudran and his

family in bANAsura vadham; the way He effortlessly

sucked the life of Poothanai; kicked the sakatAsura;

swirled and hit the vathsAsura against the viLampazha

tree to kill both in one stroke; - KaNNan KaNNalladhu

illayOr kaNNE.

AzhwAr enjoys this avathArams and advises us- easy to

meditate on the lotus feet of Kutti KaNNan..

The asurA who had come in the guise of calf- dhEnukan

[with an intent to kill KaNNan] was simply and

effortlessly killed by Kutti KaNNan by lifting the

same and swirling by holding its tail raising His

shoulders high– during the time itself he would have

been half dead or even full- and hitting against the

viLAmpazha tree (which was another asurA). Such

valoruous KaNNan- but for the devotees who have

intense devotion for His divine Lotus feet [that made

the calf void] can anyone else get the deathless

mukthA status? Never.

The asurA was living in the forest as tree with his

family (also perhaps as trees)- vaasi.. living

therein…

The feet that killed nor nullified the calf- How did

the feet kill the asurA? While lifting and holding its

tail, swirling KaNNan used his feet skilfully to

balance himself and did the grand deed as Kutti

KaNNan.

kanRu kuNilaa yeRindhaay kazahl pORRi… - says AnDAL

kaNru kiNilaa eRindhaay kazhal pORRi. – When

vasthAsura appeared as calf and came near You with an

attempt to kill you, You noticed that asurA by its

different eyes (thiruttu muzhi and not loving

affectionate eyes like other calves) and took the calf

by its tail and swirled the calf hitting against the

another asurA (who came in as viLAm pazha tree) so

that your friends could eat the fruits and enjoy as

well.. your marvelous deeds can not be described in

words at all. May Your such grandest deeds and Your

lotus feet remain for millions of years after years

with us.

also KulasekarAzhwAr says: [in PerumAL Thirumozhi- in

the role of Devaki:- 9th verse]

Holding Govardhana hill as an umbrella; your playing

Rasakrida with the Gopis; your playing(!) with a calf

(Vatsasura in the form of a calf); throwing a bela

fruit (Kapithasura in the form of a bela fruit) both

of them were killed; trodding on the hoods of kalinga;

thinking of your victorious childhood deeds as above

makes my mind elated. I have not been fortunate to see

any of your deeds. Please bless me in case there are

any opportunities to see your deeds in future.
