SrI:

SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Please tell me one – You are asking. Don’t you know

the greatness and benefits of uttering and chanting My

names (naama sangeertthanam) Hence just live uttering

my different names, Azhweer. AzhwAr replies: Please

bless me for that as well, Swami.

Oh Lord! The One who is ever associated with SrI and

the One who is associated with an eternal auspicious

Body! The Lord of NithyasUrIs- who are chief and above

even Devas (Demigods)! The essence and embodiment of

Vedic hymns, which eternally declare unambiguously

therein about Him, his Glories and kalyANa guNAs! The

One who is never touched by imperfections

(akilahEyaprathyaneekan)! The One who has dark bluish

dark cloud coloured bodied KaNNA! Please tell me the

way (to keep) uttering Your divine names along with

the contemplation of Your divine most beautiful Form!

tattvam jignAsamAnAnAm hEthubi: sarvathOmukhai: |

tattvamEkO mahAyOgI harirnArAyaNa: para: ||

Thus the Lord is declared, glorified and elaborated

with these vedic saasthrAs. Thus as declared in Vedas,

He is the Chief of Devas of Devas which is

unambiguously asserted in Vedas and Upanishads. Rudran

is addressed as Deva Devan. Thus, Sriman Narayanan is

the Deva of Deva Devan- Lord of Rudran- which is

obtained from this Vedaarttha vichAram; and Vedanaatha

VichAram.

As mentioned by ThoNdaradippodi AzhwAr’s pacchai

maamalai pOl mEni- The form – divine Body which is

greenish dark most beautiful form- and then AzhwAr

mentions the utterance of His name achuthA… Similarly

Thirumazhisai AzhwAr prays for the utterance of His

divine names vis-à-vis contemplating His divine form.

When uttering his Divine Name, one should contemplate

of His kalyANa guNAs, leelAs, beautiful form and enjoy

the meaning of those letters in His names- is what is

implied.

Thus the utterance and chanting of His 1000 divine

names is indeed ParamabhOgyam for the reciter as well

as listeners. The sruthis (Vedas) reveal that

Bhagawaan Narayana and Sri MahalakshmI, the Divine

Couple, are together the Supreme Reality, the greatest

means and the Highest Goal. The Saguna srutis declare

that Paramathma is endowed with innumerable most

auspicious qualities like knowledge, Bliss,

Omnipotence, etc.. He is inseparably qualified by the

essential qualities of Satya, jnAna, Anantha, Anandha

and amala. The jnAna, bhala, Aishwarya, veerya,

Shakti, thEjas- six guNAs are the qualities that point

out His Bhagawathvam i.e. Supremacy. There are other

that are derived from the above qualities namely,

Bala, veerya, shakti, thEjas, sowseelya, vaathsalya,

Maardhava, Arjava, saamya, kaaruNya, maadhurya,

gaambeeryaAudhARya, audhArya, Chaathurya, Sthairya,

dhairya, sowrya, parAkrama, Sathyakaama,

Sathyasankalpa, kruthithva, kruthagnathai, and many

other such greatest most auspicious kalyAna GuNas-

anantha kalyANa guNa mahaarNavan- (Ocean of

innumerable kalyANa guNas)

The nirguNa sruthis proclaim that He is devoid of all

kinds of defects like birth, death, hunger, thirst,

sickness and sorrow.[akilahEya praythyaneekan]

AzhwAr refers to all of them esoterically in this

verse.
