Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Even if one sits for few minutes and meditate on the

Lord in his mind, he needs to keep on contemplating of

the divine most beautiful form in his mind always.

Then only will it fructify. This called as

“ALAMBANASAMSEELANAM”. That means: when one walks,

stands, sits or goes to bed, he should have the form

of the Lord in his heart. Unless that happens, Yoga

can not occur- Hence, AzhwAr prays for that in this

verse.

The strong, cruel, Kabandhan; thandhavakran; karan;

muran;- their heads were all removed and were made to

roll by You, Oh most valorous – most wonderful Lord!

Ascharya purushA! Please bless me the unparalleled

uninterrupted continuous thinking of Your most

beautiful divine pair of Lotus Feet – even while lying

down(go to sleep); sitting; standing and walking.

During RamavathAram, Kabandhan and Karan were cut and

killed by Lord Rama. Thandhavakran was SisupAlan’s

brother. Muran was with NarakAsura. So, these two

belong to krishNAvathAram. Their heads were made to

roll by KaNNan. Kabandhan was cursed by Sage Sthoola

Siras, with a horrible looking form and when fought

with Devendra, got his head cut off by Devendran with

his vajrAyudha. To live and survive, the head was kept

in his belly (it appears). He was given an eye in the

chest to look for his food (prey). He extends his long

(one mile) hands to search for his food, grabs the

elephants, lions and tigers that get trapped and

swallows. Rama, Lakshmanas were also caught with his

hand and they cut his hands. His head was not cut

however. That’s why the verse should read to

associtate the siram (head) with Karan, Muran, Thandha

vakkiran and NOT Kabandhan.

They later pushed him into a pit and burnt him and

thus his head was also burnt and now one can read also

that the head word is being connected with Kavandhan

incident as well.
