SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

 

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

 

When the asurAs and Devaas came to fight against You,

how that leelA (sport) was performed- AzhwAr enjoys.

 

kaRuththethirntha kaalan^Emi

kaalanOdu kooda,an

RaRuththavaazhi sankuthaNdu

villumvaaLu mEnthinaay,

thoRukkalantha voonamaqtho

zhikkavanRu kunRammun,

poRuththan^inpu kazhkkalaalor

nEsamillai neNYchamE! (106)

 

That day- in the TaarakAsura yuddham, when angered

KaalanEmi came in front, his head was cut off by You

with Your divine ChakrA. Lord! The One who has such

strong divine ChakrA, the Sankhu (Conch Shell), gadhA

(mace); Saarngam (divine Bow); and the Sword! When

Devendra had sent torrential downpour, You could not

bear to see the cattle suffering and to remove their

suffering, You lifted effortlessly the Govardhana

mountain in front of everyone. Thus other than Your

glorious deeds of such nature, my mind [nenjam] does

not think or desire for anything else.

 

When Gopas did not perform pooja for Devendran, and he

got angry. It is understandable and rightful for him

to probably take action on them. But why should the

innocent cattle suffer? Also the darling of Kutti

KaNNan are they. How can they be suffering? So, Kutti

KaNNan lifted the Govardhana mountain effortlessly to

protect the cattle and the cowherd folks. AzhwAr too

feels for the cows perhaps and takes pity on them.

Nenjam Or nEsam illai- The mind does not think of

(Orthal- thinking) anything else NOR desire (nEsam)

for anything else. Also it may be read as – There is

NOT any (Or- a-) desire (nEsam) for the nenjam (mind).
