During August 2002 , adiyEn was blessed to be at Thiruvaheendrapuram

during the occasion of Aadi Poora MahOthsavam with my sister,

Kaimakrya SrI Padma VeerarAghavan . AdiyEn enjoyed the elaborate

Thirumanjanam for the Lord , His Devis and Swamy Desikan . After that

feast for the eyes , adiyEn had the Tani sevai of Swamy Desikan insideHis

aasthAnam . At that time , the presiding bhattar in a trance like state commanded

adiyEn without any qualifications to take the initative to construct and present

a RathnAngi for Lord DEvanAthan . adiyEn was overwhelmed with

this niyamanam and accepted it as the direct command of Swamy

Desikan Himself ; adiyEn sought Swamy Desikan's blessings to engage

as many devotees as possible in this kaimkaryam for SrI HemAbhjavalli

SamEtha SrI DevanAtha PerumAl and for them all to become objects of

the Lord of Thiruvayindhai's auspicious glances .

AdiyEn returned to USA and pondered over this great bhAgyam of working

with the newly constitued SrI DevanAthan RathnAngi Kaimkaryam commitee

in the context of realizing the once -in-a-lifetime dream of creating and

presenting the Noothana RathnAngi AabharaNam that Swamy Desikan

Himself commanded to be made on that Aadi Pooram day in Thiruvayindhai .

adiyEn's sincere thanks to the following office bearers of the RathnAngi

Kaimakryam committee for their deep involvement in realizing the creation

of this splendid AabharaNam that is being presented to the Lord on

September 16 , 2004 :

SrI Mohan Parasaran , President ; Vice Presidents: Smt. Padma Veeraraghavan

and Sri Ramakrishna Reddiyar ; Secretaries: Smt. Devaki SanthAnam and

SrI M.K. Srinivasan ; Treasurer : SrI V.N.Venkatanathan of Oppiliappan Sannidhi.

adiyEn wrote for the past two years about the powerful and ever-fragrant

SrI Sookthis of Swamy Desikan on the Sri Vaishnavite lists on the internet

to invite the participation of the BhakthAs of the dhivya dampathis

of Thiruvaheendhrapuram from all parts of the world ; they responded

generously to raise all the funds needed to purchase the silver , gold , gems

(Padhma Raagam , Emerald and diamonds )and realize the services of

a very talented gem smith , Sri Mutthuswamy AchAri , whose craftsmanship

has been nationally recognized . adiyEn's sister , Kaimakrya Sri Padma Veeraraghavan

and Treasurer , SrI V.N. VenkatanAthan toiled over the demands of coordinating

the intricate aspects of bringing this MahA Kaimkaryam to the completion stage

during July 2004 . adiyEn's sincere thanks to them and every one of the supporters

of this Kaimkaryam .

The postings on Swamy Desikan's Sri Sookthis that empowered

this Kaimkaryam are archived at http://www.malolan.org and

http://www.sadagopan.org

The Lord of Thiruvaheendhrapuram saluted by Swamy Desikan as

"Achyuthan , Natha Sathyan , Namath Sathyan , DaasAnAm Sathyan ,

Kimkara Sathyan is the dark rain-laden cloud that drenches His

kimkaraas with the life-giving rain of DayA at the appropriate times

( HarimaNi sadhruksha nija ruchi haridhAyamAna BhujagEndhra

Pura NaaTa: kaalE Daasa JanAnAm dhattha KaaruNya rasa

krushNa gana : Bhavathi). Swamy Desikan states that the meditation

of the Thirumukha MaNdalm of the Lord of Thiruvyindhai destroys

even those sins accumulated consciously ( Prasanna lOchana

yugaLam Tava Mukham samsmrutham sankalpitha dhurithAni api

harathy ). That remmebrance of the Lord's Thirumukha MaNDalam

itself has been declared as Parama PrAyascchittham for all of our

sins . Those who perform SaraNgathy at His holy feet are rid of

all Kaliyuga dhOshams ( yE Tava PadhE PravaNA: tEshAm Kali:

na asthi). Swamy Desikan declares that the BhaagavathAs

who have been blessed to take part in Lord DevanAthan's Kaimkaryam

are led to Parama Padham by the Lord Himself at the end of their

earthly existence ( Parama Jn~Ana PradheepA: krutha KaaryA:

Sadha svayam prabham nija padham Thvayaa niyanthE ).

adiyEn is truly blessed to serve this Bhaagavatha GhOshti

that has made the realization of the SamarpaNam of RathnAngi

for Lord DEvanAthan possible . It is all the anugraham of

the Sarva Loka SaraNYan , Swamy Desikan and asmath AchAryan .

Adiyen is reminded of the wonderful slOkam composed by

Vaikunta Vaasi , Assu Kavi Saarvabhouma Srinidhi Swamy

where in this great Bhaktha of Swamy Desikan visualizes

the SamarpaNam of the RathnAngi by Swamy Desikan to

Lord DevanAthan and requesting the Lord to accept that

samarpaNam . Swamy Desikan addresses the Lord of

Thiruvayindhai in this slOkam as " Jaya ViBhudhapathE "

( The Lord of DevAs or of the learned scholars ) . Lord DevanAthan

responds : " I am the Lord of the learned only in name ".

Swamy Desikan is shocked to hear this response and

says : " Oh Lord ! How can You say such harsh things about

Yourself ? Your status as DevathA Saarvabhouman has been

established by all AzhwArs and AchAryAs as well as by myself .

You can not put Yourself down with such painful statements

that hurt the ears ( KarNayO: kampakAri ) ". The Lord asks

Swamy Desikan : " Please tell me which Prabhandha rathnams

can I claim to be the author of ! It is You who has created in

so many languages a great assembly of Sri Sookthis. Hence

You alone the Lord of VidhvathAns. It is You alone , who should

adorn the Rathna Kavacham ". Thus Swamy Desikan became

the Rathna KavachadhAri some thirty five years ago . Swamy

Desikan never forgot this conversation each time He adorned

His RathnAngi . He was waiting for an appropriate time to present

a new RathnAngi of exquisite beauty to His Lord . On this subha

Dinam , " Visuddha VidhyA BhUshaNa viBhudha jana nATan ,

ThUppul VenkatanATan " is presenting the new RathnAngi

for His Lord ; this auspicious day is that of TaaraNa Samvathsara

Saama UpAkarmA day .

adiyEn would like to conclude this vote of thanks with

the prayer of Swamy Desikan for the boon of nithya vAsam

at Thiruvaheendhrapuram ( SrI DEvanAyaka PanchAsath:

52nd slOkam ):

" Jaya ViBhudhapathE Thvam darsithAbhIshtadhAna:

saha sarasijavAsA MedhineebhyAm vasAbhyAm

naLavanamiva mrudhnan pAparAsim nathAnAm

Garudasarith anUpE Gandhahastheeva dheevyan "

Jaya Jaya SrI DEvanAthA !
