SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

 

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

 

After performing self-surrender [saranagathi] at His

Lotus Feet, Alavandhar for seven subsequent verses,

expresses his firmness and determination on his

saranagathi and responds all queries namely, why

should one seek and desire for mOksham; can that be

delayed; can one get mOksham from others; the means is

so small; and fruit- mOksham- how is that?- etc are

all answered here beautifully by Sri Yamunacharya

[Alavandhar]

 

na nindhitham karma tadhAstho lOkE sahasrasO yanna

mayaa vyadhaayi

sOham vipAkAvasarE mukundhaa! Kradhaami

samprathyagathis thavaagrE [23]

 

whatever sin [paapam[ thousands of thousand times-

have not been committed

by me; there is no such paapam in any world. I am such

an incorrigible sinner- now when those despicable

deeds of mine are yielding fruits, and now going to

drown me in fullest of suffering and sorrows with

great dhukka, with no other recourse, no other help, I

am crying out in front of You…

 

One can never see any sin in this world or in any

other world- which has not been committed by me- that

too- very many times- thousands and thousands of

times. You may have mentioned many paapams in Vedas

and saasthrAs- which are not even prevalent or popular

in this world. But even them- I had performed and

committed many times- in millions of earlier births.

Even if Vedas do not mention any paapam, but is in

your mind- even those sins have been committed by me

as well.

 

So what? You can continue to do so- as you have been

committing since time immemorial. You can no say that,

Lord! Those paapams are now yielding fruits and are

going to torture me. Do not ask me to perform

parihaaram and preaayaschittham (undo to those

paapams]. How many thousands of praayaschitthams- and

how may times? For which paapams? Even while doing

those praayschittham- I may commit many more

apacharams and paapams? I do not also have the jnAnam

of knowing which praayachittham- how to perform

correctly etc.. Every act yields further more paapams…

I am now caught in tremdous ocean of suffering and

sorrows; Having realised my sinful pasts, [briths] and

the consequences, I am not crying aloud in front of

You…

 

You do know that I am crying as I am crying in front

of You- before You… right here; now. Even when

Draupathi, Gajendar cried at such a distance, You

blessed them. You are Mukundan- mOksha pradhan-

Granter of mOksham. That’s why I am addressing You

with that most wonderful unique name of Yours and

crying in front of You. What is mOksham- to get rid of

all these karmic diseases and attain You. And You are

the Only One capable of granting the same- So, why

should I cry in front of You- do not ask. To whom else

can we cry? What can I do?- do not ask.. Only You can

do…

 

Do not think that I am comfortable here; l am happy

and still to be more happy and enjoy more- I have

performed saranagathi at Your feet… It is NOT so.. I

am crying fearing all the fruits of the paapams that I

had committed and can not endure any more of this

scorching samsaaric affliction and heat; You can

delay; Bit I can never delay any more of my

performance of Saranagathi and I have no other

recourse. Since I am crying so loud with no other

refuge, and no other help- - being a utterly destitute

that I am- you need to take pity on me and bless me.

Saranagathi alone is my only praayaschittham for all

my millions of paapams committed so far. Hence I

performed my saranagathi at Your feet.
