SrImathE Gopaladesiika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Thus after mentioning that Sriman Narayana is the

Jagath kaaraNan (cause for the Universe), further,

based on srOthriyasya cha akAhamathasya- He is the One

who grants mOksham; and hence how can He be cause for

samsaaric affliction; Hence He can not grant moksham;

There should be someone else who grants mOksham- one

should not think. There is absolutely NONE who can

grant mOksham except Sriman Narayanan. In order to

grant moksham, He lets us go through samsaaric

affliction; - Alavandhar explains here.

tvad AsrithAnAm jagad udhbavasthithi

praNAsa samsaara vimOchanaadhaya:

bhavanthi leelA vidhayas cha vaidikA:

tvadeeya gambheera manOnusaariNa: [20]

udhbhava - shrushti [creation], sthithi [sustenance],

and praNAsa [destruction or dissolution] of the jagath

[universe]; the final redemption [mOksham] from this

samsaaric affliction; - the direction [by manifesting]

– all of these are due to Your leelA [sport] and are

based on Your own accord [sankalpam] and also are in

accordance with vedic injunctions [which are Your

command] . All of these are for the sake and benefit

of Your devotees due to Your mercy on them.

At all times and under all circumstances, for all

worlds, the creation, sustenance and dissolution are

all Your leelAs; the granting of mOksham for few [who

perform the pertinent saasthric injunctions for the

same] is also by You; why should You do all these

uninterruptedly- is all due to the beginningless karma

performed by jeevans and are never arbitrary. They

follow the karmic pattern based on their puNya,

paapams. You grant the births based on their own past

karmas. If You do not follow this and grant without

any basis, then You would be branded partial and

biased, merciless. Thus You perform samasaaric

affliction for the jeevans and also grant mOksham

based on their smallest deed towards Your Feet as an

excuse to take pity on them due to Your mercy and let

them get out of further births and deaths. Thus You do

not have any folly or defect on You. All these are

comprehended and admired by Your devotees and they

enjoy Your Supreme Lordship. And that helps in taking

refuge at Your feet. And those devotees [prapannas]

after taking refuge at Your feet enjoy You in this

world as well in the same fashion.

This reminds me of Sri Kuresa’s Varadarajasthavam:

[posted by Sri Sadaopan Swami] – which reinforces this

sthOthra of Alavandhar.

tavAnantha guNasyApi shaDEva praTamE guNA:

yaisthvayEva jagath kukshou anyEpyanthar nivEsithA:

In this slOkam of KurEsar , there is a qualifier for

each of the six primary GuNAs that arose from Para

VaasudEva Moorthy.:

1. Prakrushtam Vij~nAnam : The capacity to know every

thing (Omniscience) that is far superior to that of a

Jeevan.

2. Athulam Balam: All pervasive and unstoppable

strength that can control and subdue every other

power.

3. Akhilam Isvaryam: the all comprehensive

Isvaryam(VibhUthi) including LeelA and Nithya VibhUthi

that confers on Him the title of Ubhaya VibhUthi

Naathan .

4. VimaryAdham Veeryam: Limitles valour .

5. ParamA sakthi: The supreme state as the power

behind the universe and its functioning .

6. Param Teja: The capacity to be the matchless

Supreme Radiance (Param JyOthi:, Svayam JyOthi:)

The guNams exhibited by the Jeevans pale into

insignificance compared to the KalyANa GuNams of the

Lord. For instance, the Jn~Anam shown by the Jeevans

is alpam(insignificant), where as the Lord's Jn~Anam

is VilakshaNam ( matchlessly superior).

The auspicious effects of the six guNams of the Lord

on the jeevans are linkable to the Lord's dhivyAthma

Svaroopam and Dhivya mangaLa Vigraham. The Jagath

Srushti ( the creation of the world with its chEthanms

and achEthanams) , RakshaNam (protection ), VinAsam

(destruction ), conferral of true Jn~Anam and finally

the blessings of MokshAnugraham are manifestations of

the six guNAs in action.

Thus Your leelA is all based on karma and they are all

based on vedic injunctions as well. They are all Your

instructions and Your agnyA. Sruthi, smruthir are my

command- You had said. You perform creation,

sustenance and dissolution in accordance with all this

based on your own accord. Those who perceive this

clearly, realising His greatness, take refuge at His

Feet and those few are granted by mOksham by Him – in

line with their deed as an excuse and in line with His

lordship. Thus He alone needs to be sought after for

mOksham. He alone is the one – responsible for

creation, sustenance and dissolution. [brahmA, Rudra

are only instruments]
