Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Ok. I can somewhat agree with you, Alavandhar. – Lord

says- Anjali has got such greatness. However, can

everything be possible with that? Only with jnAnam

[knowledge] can one attain mOksham. Alavandhar

responds for that: One who performs Anjali, has Your

lotus feet in his mind and contemplates on the same-

while performing. Even that jnAnam comes through self

surrender at Your feet alone. Even that Anjali is also

not required as You Yourself blessed those beings

right from the blade of grass to everyone in the city

of Ayodhya to Your world. For blessing the same, one

should have jnAnam about Your Supremacy and has love

and devotion for Your red lotus feet.

Even a minutest drop from the nectar ocean of dayaa

[compassion] from the most beautiful red lotus flower

of Your two divine feet itself is enough to burn and

extinguish the forest blazing fire of this scorching

samsaaric affliction and grants immense Absolute

Bliss.

For long time- one should sit and meditate on the

lovely form uninterruptedly. It is not that bhakti

[devotion] alone can grant mOksham. What did Sisupala

do? The words, the action, the body- were all aimed

against You and were scolding You. At the end,

probably he would have some love for You and hence he

was also granted Moksham.

Sri LeelA Sukhar went on to state the fruits of such a

dhruva smrithi (unceasing remembrance of the Lord )

attained thru naama sankeerthanam

this way:

prEmadham cha mE kaamadham cha mE

vEdanam cha mE vaibhavam cha mE I

jeevanam cha mE jeevitham cha mE

dheyvatham cha mE Deva naaparam II

Oh Deva Deva! You are the One, who blesses me with

affection (love); You are the One, who fulfils my

ishta kaamams (wish -fulfiller); You are the One, who

gives me the true knowledge; You alone are my entire

wealth; You are my prANa [life force]; You are my

living days; except You , there is no other Supreme

Being for me;

Like this Anjali, even the naama sangeertthanam

[utterance of divine names] grants one higher state of

joy and bliss and takes one to the path of

Saranagathi. Thus Alavandhar declatred his firmness of

his mind and declared that his self surrender, though

small effort, He can grant the highest fruit of

Samsaara nivrtthi. The means is thus huge… [in terms

of its glories].

Actually it is Lord’s vaathsalya guNA which grants one

mOksham; by getting pleased with the mukukshu’s

[desirer of mOksham] Saranagathi [self-surrender] at

His Feet. Thus His vaathsalyam is the Primary Cause.

I cry like Draupadi and she too cried; even after

saving her, You felt bad that You could not help her

immediately and made her cry so long…

Alavandhar ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam
