Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Even if you perform Saranagathi in lieu of bhakti

yoga, why should you ask for mOksham in this birth

itself? Next births – I will place you in higher

positions, with more pleasures and then take you after

few births.- Alavandhar worries- if Lord would ask

like that and responds pre-emptive.

Having placed the buddhi on your divine nectar

dripping red lotus flower like most beautiful Feet,

-would anyone desire for anything else? Never. The bee

that drinks the sweet honey from the pollens of red

lotus flower in a pond, would never even look at the

other non-smelling, no-honeyed flowers in the pond

like ikshurakam [a thorny flower without fragrance or

honey- neer muLLippoo in Tamil- weeds? ]..

Your Lotus feet are the red lotus flowers. It also has

nectar- which is due to Your sowlabhyam – showering

dayaa on us. That is the nectar. Unlike the earlier

days and lives, now I have placed my buddhi [and mind]

on those red lotus Feet [due to your grace]. You

yourself have enabled me place the same on Your lotus

feet. After having been blessed with that, would

anyone love for – desire for anything else but Your

lotus feet? No never.

Leaving nectar, would anyone compromise for anything

lower? Never.

The bees that drink the honey from lotus flowers would

never even look for weeds. Even if it is near, even if

the eyes see the weeds, it would still not be tempted

as it is drinking the honey. It would not desire for

anything lower. Similarly, with the fruit i.e. Your

lotus feet in my vicinity and reach, would I go for

lesser ones? Why should I aspire for other janmams,

other pleasures? I am completely aware of the fleeting

pleasures, their follies, weaknesses and the lesser

importance of the same… I am aware of the

consequences as well.

nivEsithAthmA- the buddhi that has been placed on -

here it can also be interpreted as mind; but buddhi –

intellect- vivEkam- is stronger and more decisive-

less susceptible to temptations that mind. Also having

placed mind and intellect, one would not aspire for

others- can be the interpretation. Here AthmA- means

Jeevan. But it is more appropriate in the overall

contecxt to understand the same as buddhi [and/or

mind] than AthmA.
