SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Now Alavandhaar describes the Lord being seated with

Her in Srivaikuntam.

thayaa sahaaseenam anantha bhOgini

prakrshta vignAna balaika dhaamani

paNaamaNi vrAthamayooka maNdala

prakAsamAnOdhara dhivya dhaamani [39]

With such Greatest PiraaTTi [ocean of dayaa-

compassion], You are seated on the Divine Body of

ThiruvananthAzhwAn [AdhisEshan], who has aprAkrutha

dhivya maNi maNdapa above him; who is the sole seat of

infinite effulgence, jnAnam [knowledge] and strength;

with the whole SrIvaikunta illumined by the rays

arising out of the gem stones in the thousand heads or

hood of AnanthaazhwAn.

vaikuNtEthu pare lOkE sriyaa saarddham jagathpathi:

aasthE vishNu rachinthyAthmA…. – Alavandhaar mentions

the same here. Just like the Lord, even Adhi sEshan is

addressed as Ananthan. Sri Visnu purANA also mentions

AnanthAzhwAn as: naantham guNAnAm gacchanthi

dhEnAnanthOyam ucchyathE…

whatever size, form, the Lord takes, AnanthAzhwAn also

takes the same compatible size to serve Him. He

performs immeasurable, innumerable kinds of service

[kaimkaryam] to the Lord. Though he has many guNAs, he

exhibits only jnAna, bala guNAs to match abd enjoy

being the favourite of the Lord – who is SankarshaNan.

SaasthrAs say that the five forms of jyOthisha sasthrA

was established by AnanathAzhwAn only.

Also it is AnanthAzhwAn who blessed us with Sri

Bhasshyam [by taking the most compassionate Acharya

avathAra namely Sri Ramanujacharya]. Not only does He

support the worlds; He lets the Lord and Sree, bhU,

neelA dEvis sit on him and crush his body with their

leelAs and playful deeds. He is possessed with such

bala [strength].

During mahaa praLayam, when none is there except the

Lord as a small Baby having all the worlds in His

stomach lying down on the little Banyan leaf,

AdhisEshan was the leaf;

When He took takes avathArams, He also appears as

brother, or umbrella (in Vamana), in the padhukas

during ParasurAma, as the horse in Kalki avathAram.

He is thus Paraanujan; vibhavaanujan; archAnujan as

well He is the kuNdalini in the Haarda avathAram. He

is the beauty, softness, fragrance, and tenderness

personified for the Lord’s bed. The beauty of Adhi

sEshan with his radiant white hue is captivating. He

is like a mountain made up of dazzling silver. On that

soft and beautiful seat, the Lord is resting like an

emerald mountain. From there, our Lord, the master of

all nithya sUris, rules all the universes. Swami

Desikan describes the Lord as Marathaga Giri ( emerald

mountain) seated on the rajatha giri (silver mountain)

of Adhi sEshan , which is His bhOga Paryankam

(enjoyable throne /bed)

The brightness from gems from the thousand heads hides

the real light of Srivaikuntam and shed this light.

Such effulgent form is AdhisEshan’s. Thus along with

Periya PiraaTi, You are seated on top of AnanthAzhwAn.

You are Sriya: Pathi.

Here one can enjoy and contemplate Savya paadham… the

dhyAna sloka of Ashtaakshara manthra.

Alavandhaar ThiruvaDigaLE SaraNam

Regards

Namo Narayana
