" SrI VaNN NaarAyaNaakhyaa mahitha yathivarAn

santhatham BhavayAma: " Let us meditate always on Srimath

Azhagiya Singar of the ThirunAmam , Sri NaarAyaNa YathIndhra

MahA DEsikan , who has been crowned as the 45th Pattam

PeetAdhipathi . The poet goes on to give the SIX reasons for such

special dhyAnam .

 

The reasons are : (1) Jnan~AnushtAnavArdheen ( He is the ocean of Jn~Anam &

anushtAnam)

 

(2) Subha-guNa-mahithAn ( worshipful because of His auspicious attributes)

 

(3) Viswa vikhyAtha Keertthin ( the glories of being praised

by the entire world )

 

(4) SrI VaNN RangEsa kaaryAhvaya yathikaruNAvAptha SathsampradhAyAn

( One who has acquired SathsampradhAyam at the sacred feet of the most

merciful HH the 42nd Jeeyar of Ahobia Mutt , InjimEttu Jeeyar .

 

5) Sath-tarkAmbhOdhi chandrAn ( He is the Moon for the Ocean

of Tarka Saasthram

 

6) nija-subha-karuNA-veekshaNa thrAtha-sishyAn ( He is the protector of

His sishya vargams through His auspicious glances ).

 

These six reasons are given as exemplary reasons for

constant meditation on this great AchAryan .

Saama VyAhruthavantham abhja-nayanam dhAnEna dhAnEna bhEdhEna cha

dhaNDEnApi vibhUshitham makhavatha: kAvyasya dhaithyasya vaa

tamm dEvam NamuchErnishUdhanachaNam ThvAm bhAvayAmO vayam

 

(Meaning): This Azhagiya Singar is like Thrivikraman. In this avathAram ,

the Lord took all the world under His influence through His measurement

of all the universe .His jyOthi spread in all directions.He was always with

SrI Devi. He recited Saama Vedam all the time.He had lotus soft , beautiful

eyes. This Lord created disharmony between MahA Bali and his AchAryan ,

SukrAcchAr and thus punished the asuran .He was adept in chasing

away Namuchi . In this context , Prakrutham Azhagiya Singar through

his many sanchArams enchanted this universe. With his Brahma tEjas ,

he makes all directions resplendent .He is full of MalOla Kaimkarya SrI ,

VedAntha Vij~yAna Sri and Loukika SrI relating to the acquisition of

saamagriyAs for Bhagavath aarAdhanam .He is fond of uttering benovolent

words ( Saama vedam ).He has fully blossomed joyous eyes arising from

MalOla Kaimkaryam.He is known for making dhAnams to the righteous ,

creating dissonance between unrighteous , punishing the wicked

and chasing away people like Namuchi , who interfere with the performance

of good deeds . Thus , this Azhagiya Singar resembles Thrivikraman in

every way . May we meditate on Him constantly !

 

The Fourth SlOkam of SrivathsAngAcchAr Swamy

prAchInAchAra bhUmnA praguNa-subha-dayA-veekshaNai: suddhavrutthai:

Jn~AnAdhyai: sarva-vidhyA-pracharaNa-vibhavai: taapasAdhikya bhAvAth

sAnthyA-mOdhAdhi-bhAvai: nikhilajana-hithai: nisthulam sarvahrudhyam

SrIvaNN NaarAyaNAkhyaamahitha-guruvaram bhAvayE bhakthi-bhUmnA

 

Prakrutham Srimath Azhagiya Singar has praachIna ( ancient , time tested )

aachArams ( prescribed religious codes of conduct ). He is matchless in

his most merciful katAkshams , auspicious conduct , Jn~Anam ,

Pravachana sakthi , exalted penance (tapas) , tranquility , contentment

and other aathma guNams .He has taken the vow to be benovolent to

one and all. He is adored by one and all. adiyEn meditates on Srimath

Azhagiya Singar of this vaibhavam with reverence .

with the Sri Sookthis of SrI BhAshyakArar , Swamy Desikan

and other PoorvAchAryAs. He is the close follower of the path

shown by Adhi VaNN SaThakOpa Jeeyar. He has learnt by heart

the Upanishads , Aagamams and other pramANams. Thus shines

this Azhagiya Singar free from any blemishes.

HIs sishya vargams , saasthra debates with vidhvAns , when He finds time

in between all His commitments ! May this sage known for His pious

karmAnushtAnams , japam and tapas live for many , many years

with victory !
