SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

 

The prime reason for such utter lowliest feeling and

the feeling of repentance and utter helplessness

[nirvEdham] is explained here and the to save alone is

the Lord’s goal and objective and that is why He has

blessed me with this birth- says Alavandhaar

 

janithvaaham vamsE mahath jagathi khyAthayachasaam

sucheenaam sishtAnAm guNapurushatattvasthithi vidhaam

nisargaadEva tvaccharaNakamalai kaantha manasaam

athO(S)tha: paapaathmA saraNatha nimajjaami thamasi

I- having been blessed to be born in the lineage of

world’s most glorious anushtAthAs [one who performs

karma anushtAnams in strict and full accordance with

saathrAs and nothing else]; who are parama vaideekaas;

who have performed great yaagaas and yagnyas in their

lives; who have performed [karma/jnAna, bhakti] yogas;

who have fully comprehended the exact truths about

sentient, non-sentient entities [Chith and achith

tattva respectively] , Supreme entity [iswara tattva]

in crystal clear manner; who have understood Purusha,

Jeeva tattvam unambiguously and the eternal relation

between them; who have since their births – been

devoted to only Your red Lotus Feet alone; and had the

mind contemplating always only on The Lotus Feet of

Yours; - am the personification of all gravest sins;

and drowning myself in the darkness of thamasic world

(world of ignorance] and going deeper and deeper. Oh

SaraNyaa! Please see me… (bless me).

 

My ancestors in the lineage where I came from- they

are SadAchAryars. They were fully resplendednt with

Achara, anushtAna, jnAna, vairAgya and bhakti. They

considered the fame, wealth, other’s property as blade

of grass and had their minds focussed and contemplated

only on the Lord’s Lotus Feet. They were such great

vairAgis [detachment]. They performed all vaideeka

anushTAnams and have then (athAthO brahmajignAsA)

performed karma, jnAna,bhakti yogas. They have not

learnt half baked truths about Purusha, Prakrithi,

Jeeva et al; but have fully and blissfully,

unambiguously understood and comprehended the tattva

jnAnam about the three entities namely Chith, Achith

and Iswara. The Upanishads celebrate the five guNams

of Sriman NaarAyaNa ( Para Brahman) as : Sathyathvam ,

Jn~Anathvam , Ananthathvam , Aanandhathvam and

Amalathvam. When one comprehends the Lord through

these five guNams (auspicious attributes) , one can

recognize His Sarva VilakshaNathvam ( being different

than all chEtanams and achEtanams) . These are the

Svaroopa Niroopaka dharmams for the lakshaNam(defining

marks) of Iswaran . My ancestors {Acharyas} have

underlined the bhEdams ( differences) between Iswaran

and the other two tattvams ( ChEtanams and

achEtanams):

 

Having understood the tattvams, in such clear manner,

they have caught hold of and contemplated only Your

Red lotus feet and do not know of anything else. They

were not seeking any other material pleasures; worldly

pursuits and they were paramaikaanthins since their

birth… They had unalloyed devotion for You and You

alone. All this- I am not saying. This world says. The

world talks about their glories; They were living in

such humble and pious and religious life style..

 

And in this mahaa vamsam, was I born (as a grand son

of SrI NAthamuni shrEshtar) and where there should be

ample opportunities for growth for me, I have been

born as Sarva brashtan; been performing only paapams

(sins) right from birth; having no jnAnam about

tattvas; Mahaa paapi – am I. And having known that I

am a mahaa paapi, did I attempt to improve and redeem

myself? Never. I am still going down and down

immersing myself in the depths of samsaaric ocean and

full of ignorance. Everyday I am going down. After

some time, perhaps I will touch the sea bed and there

may not be any chance at all for You to even lift me

out as I would have been trapped and caught into the

seabed. You need to lift me NOW – RIGHT now- with Your

Hand lifting me up. You are Saranaagatha vathsalan.

 

Why are You having such a vaathsalam on me and You

blessed me with such a GLORIOUS Birth in this lineage?

Did I ask for? You alone blessed on Your own accord. I

need to be saved due to my Saranagathi- In order to

declare that alone, You have blessed me with this

birth, I SUPPOSE. When such is the case, why am I

going down further and further? Because I am such a

greatest paapaaathmA. Now I would have even committed

the greatest paapam of having destroyed my greatest

vamsam (lineage). So, please consider this nirvEdham

[feeling of repentance and utter helplessness] as the

excuse and bless me Oh Lord!
