SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

 

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

 

OK. Kaakaasuran, SisupAlan- I had condoned their

apachArams and pardoned them. But how can you expect

me to do that on everyone? How can you instruct me to

do so? Also You performed Prapatti (Saranagathi);

After completing your whole life only, at the end, you

need to ask for kshamA (forgiveness). How can you ask

now? Alavandhaar responds saying Saranagathi has to be

performed only once- You mentioned.

 

nanu prapannas sakrdEva nATha thavaahamasmeethi cha

yaacha maana:

thavaanukampya smaratha: prathignyAm mathEkavarjam

kimitham vratham thE [64]

 

Raghu nAThA! My nAthA! One who has performed

Saranagathi once with a desire to be Your servant; and

pleads for the same- whoever it is; You had taken a

vow, pledge (vratham) which You would never ever

forget.. Isn’t that Your limitless compassion? Such a

sankalpam of Yours to protect all those Saranagthars

whoever they are… Did You exclude me [when You made

that sankalpam]?

 

[A brilliant sloka! Alavandhaar’s master stroke to

PerumAL].

 

When the whole army of Sugreeva was there along with

Rama Lakshmana, in the sea shore [before crossing the

ocean and going to lankA], You categorically and

mercifully made the most wonderful assuaging and

assuring statement [declaring Your acceptance of

Vibheeshana saranagathi and also declaring Your vow

[sankalpam] to protect all Saranagathars whoever they

are..

 

sakrthEva prapannaaya thavaasmeethicha yaachathE

abhayam sarva bhUthEbhyO dadAmyEthath vratham mama…

 

This famous statement of Yours- whenever anyone having

performed Saranagathi once says: I have realised that

I am Yours; such one will be granted fearlessness

(abhayam) by me for all future to come… This is my

Promise; vow..

 

Raamaar dhwin nAabhibhAshathE.. Rama never utters

twice.

 

If anyone approaches You once and performs his

Saranagathi, saying, “I am Yours, “ You entail in him

a greatest fearless state of granting him abhayam… You

only said that in the sea shore in front of the whole

army of Sugreeva and Vibheeshana.

 

You are Raghu nAthA and my nathAn. You in Your

infinite mercy protect all beings thus, who take

refuge in Your Lotus feet..

 

Please bless me also as You have not excluded me when

You made that vow. Thavaahamasmeethicha yaacha maana:

I am Yours. I have realised that I am Yours now – when

I performed the Sarangathi; Hence please bless me with

more Bhagavad Kaimkaryam. Please grant me more jnAnam,

deeds towards the same.
