Dear BhakthAs of OppilA Appan :

in the previous ten Paasurams , Kaliyan declared most

sincerely nine times his distaste for Manai Vaazhkai

and expressed his longing for the direct darsana soubhAgyam

of the Lord :

ANDAi Unaik-kANpathOr aruL yenakku aruLithiyEl

vENDEn manai vAazhkayai ViNNagar mEyavanE

ThiruviNNagarappan acted as though He had not heard

AzhwAr's appeal . Kaliyan got worried and reflected on why

ThiruviNNagarappan was not fulfilling his most ardent wish .

Kaliyan figured out the Lord's ThiruvuLLam and entered into

the second level of dialog to change the mind set of the Lord .

Kaliyan recognized that he might have advanced his case

for darsana soubhAgyam too quickly in return for him to cut

his ties with Manai Vaazhkkai . The whole advocacy on his

part appeared to the AzhwAr as a kind of conditional promise

to the Lord stressing the first move by the Lord . The tone and

tenor of the appeal looked like : " If you give me that , I will do this " .

This hasty appeal did not include the preliminaries on what the Azhwar

had done sofar to qualify himself to make such a swashbuckling

request . Kaliyan recognized his hastiness based on his dhavarai

( hurry based on eagerness ) and stepped back and filled the blanks

about what he had already completed to qualify himself for

the MahA PrasAdham of the direct darsana soubhAgyam of the Lord

at ThiruviNNagaram . OppilA Appan ofcourse knew what the AzhwAr

has completed sofar in his Saadhana and yet wanted to hear from

His dear devotee and poet in sweet Tamil . Kaliyan now traces back

what he had done prior to arriving at the dhivya dEsam of ThiruviNNagar .

Through moving paasurams of this decad , Kaliyan summarized the struggles

that he went through and how he fought against internal enemies and how

he developed VairAgyam to cast aside the addictive samsAric life as futile

and destructive .
