SrI:

SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Let us continue to enjoy Pey AzhwAr anubhavam on

ThiruvEnkatam. Next verse is 30h of MoonRaam

ThiruvanthAthi:

sErntha thirumaal kadal kudanthai vEngadam

nErntha en sinthai niRai visumpu, - vaayntha

maRai paadakam_ananthan vaNduzaayk kaNNi,

iRaipaadi yaaya ivai. 30

AzhwAr again enjoys the way Lord chooses to reside in

his heart in this verse as well. AzhwAr enlists the

glorious places in which the Lord on his own accord

stays; and also adds that they are all his capital

cities (or important places- raajadhaani).

The Lord who had joined or reached the Ocean (kadal

sErndha Thirumaal)

Kudanthai, Venkatam, - Thirupathi and Thirukkudanthai

(KumbakONam ArAamudhan]

nErndha en chinthai- my mind that has been blessed and

has been a good one; [The fortunate mind can also be

inferred]

niRai visumbhu- The faultless blesmishless the

grandest, huge Nithya vibHuthi- Sri vaikuNtam

vaayndha maRai- The Vedas and Upanishads which have

been [meant- vaayndha] only to sing His glories;

paadakam- Thiruppadakam Divya Desam- where The Lord

resides most beautifully

Ananthan- Again AdhisEshan [as in earlier verse- 26th]

vaNthuzhaaykaNNi- The most fragrant thuLasai garlanded

[Lord]

[OR the thUlasi creeper also is the place where He

resides – can also be inferred here]

iRaipaadi aaya ivai- These places are His iRaipaadi-

CAPITAL cities or Raajadhaanis.

AzhwAr very beautifully enlists all His favorite

places of residence including his [AzhwAr’s] wonderful

blessed heart]

Kadal sErndha Thirumaal- Sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan

churned the milky ocean [when He had held the

mantharai moutian on His top as Koorma avathAram]; and

He supported the Devas by lending His thousand hands

to churn the ocean [along with asurAs]- to get amudham

(nectar)

Allk He had done not just for getting the nectar for

Devas; But also to get His amudham – i.e. Sri

Mahalakshmi who appeared from the Ocean in this

churning. She came out with a garland; went straight

to Sriman Narayana in front of 33 crores of Devas and

jumped and sat in His Divine Chest [ahalagillEn iRaium

enRu alarmEl mangai uRai maarbhan].

Nanjeeyar asks Parasara Bhattar “How does a lady [like

Mahalakshmi] without ant feminine shyness go, sit in

the divine chest of Narayana in front of so many

Devas?

Parasara Bhattar responds: He is the Only Purushan;

PurushOtthaman and why should she feel shy in front of

other women? And only when women are there [all

jeevathmas are like sthrees while He is the Purushan];

Also why should a mother feel shy in front of her

children to sit near the Father?

Thus Lord chooses to stay with His in-law’s place so

joyously [like we all do- to enjoy staying in our in

law’s residence] i.e. Milky ocean on AdhisEshan.

Similar to Rangamannar who chooses to stay in

PeriyAzhwAr’s residence in Srivilliputthur.

Kudanthai- Kumba kONam- This is the Lord who

mercifully blessed us with naalaayoira Dhivya

Prabandham through Sriman Nathamuni;

This is the Lord who had blessed Thirumazhisai AzhwAr

or who listened to Thirumazhisai AzhwAr.

This is the only Divya Desam which has been sung by

Thirumangai AzhwAr in all his six works.

This is the only Divya Desam mentioned by NammAzhwAr

and Thirumangai AzhwAr in their last divya desam

patthu on ThiruppEr [both have sung ThiruppEr ten as

their past divya desam and both have referred to

Kudanthai in those respective ten- says Sri Velukkudi

Krishnan Swami in his upanyasam]

Venkatam- ThiruvEnkatam Divya Desam has got

unparalleled greatness in it for the Lord to enjoy

residing here to crush and destroy all our paapams –

for each one of us.

nErtndha en chinthai- My mind which had been loitering

at all sides and in all other material, worldly

pleasures; which been going astray; is not blessed and

is thinking of Him at all times; It is His grace that

my mind has been so blessed – THUS nErndha- and thus

my blessed mind has become His favorite place of

residence.

niRai visumbhu-SRivaikuNatm – the faultless and

Blemishless SrivaikuNtam- where the imperfections or

faults in leelA vibhUthi is not there; This

theLivisumbu Thirunaadu;

leelA vibHuthi is iruL tharumaa jnAlam.

Nithya vibhUthi is the land of no return. Swami

Desikan says in DraamidOpanishad Thaathoparya

RathnAvAli: The Lord Himself accompanies those who

have performed Sranagathi at His Feet to his place of

residence SrivaiuNtam and never to come back at all

[nacha punaraavartthathE]; He accompanies them – His

Asrithars in the archiraadhi maargam and give place in

his lOka [sri vaikUnram – Nithya vibHuthi- niRai

visumbhu]; He does all this as He is

(1) Sarva Swami; (2) He is the controller of all; (3)

He measured the worlds as Thirvikraman; (4) He is the

Sriya: Pathi; (5); He holds Sudharsana Chakra in his

resplendent Hand [6] He reclines in the cool ksheera

saagara (milky ocean) (7) He took brith as cowherd Boy

to be easily accessible for all; (8) He is the

controller of Paramapadham and Nithya suris.

Vaaymdha maRai- Vedas and SaasthrAs- are the ones that

praise and talk His glories and hence He chooses to

reside therein.

Sage Vyaasa says:

Sathyam sathyam punah sathyam uddhrtya bhujamuchyathE

|

Vedaath saasthram param naasthi na deivam kesavaath

param ||

Raising up my arm, I declare on oath that there is

SCRIPTURE text greater than Vedas and no God superior

to Lord Kesava. This TRUTH TRUTH and TRUTH.

Aalodya sarva saasthraani vichaarya cha puna: puna: |

Idham yEkam sunishpannam dhyEyO naaraayanO hari: ||

After a deep study of all the saasthrAs and repeated

investigations into their purport, we come to this

CONCLUSION that the Lord to be meditated upon is HARI:

[sriman Narayanan]

Who says: Sage Vyasa who has compiled all Vedas into

four; who has written Mahabharatha who has written 18

puranas; who has written the greatest Brahma sutra. Do

we need any other authoritative statement?

These are His most favorite place of residence and His

raja dhaani- says AzhwAr.
