Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Let us continue to enjoy Pey AzhwAr anubhavam on

ThiruvEnkatam. Next verse is the 32nd of MoonRaam

ThiruvanthAthi:

paaRkadalum vEngadamum paampum panivisumbum,

nooRkadalum nuNNula thaamaraimEl, - paaRpat

tirunthaar manamum idamaakak koNdaan,

kurunthosittha gOpaa lakan. 32

AzhwAr says: Thus, the places where the Lord chooses

to stay in Divya Desams has got no limits at all. That

is His dayA.

GopAlan- go pAlakan- The One who protects the cows

(the jeevathmas)- went crawling through the Kurundha

trees [along with the mortar- when he was toed down to

it by YasodhA] and broke the trees; - That Gopala

resides in The Milky ocean; ThiruvEnkatam; The

Paramapadham that is the coolest place- the refuge-

for those who are burning in the scorching heat of

samsaaram.

Also He resides in the huge vast ocean like vedanthas

and saasthrAs; and also in the hearts of the Rishis or

Sages who always in their loyus hearts, meditate on

His Lotus Feet [knowing fully well and understanding

the unparalleled Supremacy of His Lordship from the

ocean like Vedanthas and saasthrAs]

He resides in their hearts mercifully forever.

Padma kOsa pratheekasagum hrudhayam… The lotus like

heart. The heart is like an inverted lotus flower-

Acharyas have said.

Sri Krishna Himself says:

thEshAm jnAni nithyayuktha yEka bhakthir viSishyathE |

priyO hi jnAninO(S)thyarTham aham sa cha mama priya:

|| GitA 6.17

Among the four types, the wise men, the fourth type,

jnAni is the best, because he is always attached to Me

and is single minded in his devotion to Me. The jnAni

mediates on Me while in this world; and then attains

Me. The four types of men are (as mentioned in earlier

verse of GitA 16th verse 7th chapter) aartthi,

arthaarthi, jignAsu and jnAni. First is the one who

wishes to get rid of their sorrows; They wish to

regain their lost wealth; Second type are those who

wish to acquire new wealth; Thirdly, those who want to

realize the real, pure nature of their soul or

jeevathma’s glories. This state is Kaivalyam. Fourth

is the type of jnAnis. Those who know Me and My

greatness; desire to attain Me alone as the Highest

Object of attainment.

The jnAni is devoted only to Me; He is desirous of Me,

I am the only Means and the Goal for jnAnis. He is the

best of men. I am extremely dear to such a man. Even

I, who am omniscient, omnipotent, can not express how

much I am dear to such a wise man- jnAni. In the same

way, he is also extremely dear to Me- says Krishna.

Chathurmukha ShaNmukha Pancha mukha – Four faced

Brahma, Murugan, Rudran et al come to ThiruvEnkatam

and place their heads at His Lotus Feet. They wished

to adorn their heads with the most precious gem stone

for their heads; they found that the most valuable and

precious One is the Lotus Feet of Srinivasan.

akila deivatha mouLi maNi- He is the gem stone for

every demi god’s for their heads.

Saranagatha vathsala saara nidhE- He shows His

vaathslayam for Saranagathars- Those who have

surrendered. Like the cow showing towards its calf;

Paripaalayamaam vrushasailapathE:- Oh

ThiruvEnkatamudaiyaan! Save me; Remove the anishtam

[hurdles] from me and grant me that we desire for;

He is the God of all Devas; All Nithyasuris, demi gods

come to ThiruvEnkatam to pay their obeisance.

Swamy EmperumAnAr Says: anaalOchitha asEsha visEsha

lOka SaraNyan; He is the SaraNyan for ALL- without any

partiality or bias; He is the One merciful towards

everyone.

Here in this verse AzhwAr enlists all five forms of

Lord being referred to- namely, Param, vyooham,

vibhavam, Haardha and archA.

Param- pani visumbhu- Paramapadham

Vyooham- PaarKadal- Milky ocean

archA- ThiruvEnkatam;

Haardham- Heart – antharyaami roopam

Vibhavam- Gopalakan.
