Dear BhakthAs of OppilA Appan :

 

Let us enjoy the FIFTH paasuram of Thirumangai Mannan

( Periya Thirumozhi : 6.2. 5 ) :

 

PaaNDEn vaNDaRayum kuzhalArhaL pallANDisaippa

aaNDAr vyamellAm arsaahi munnANDavarE

maaNDArenRu vanthAr anthO manai vAzhkkai tannai

vENDEn NinnadainthEn ThiruviNNagar MeyavanE

 

(Extended Meaning ) : Oh Lord of ThiruviNNagaram ! adiyEn was enjoying

the aabhAsa iswaryam ( lowly , perishable wealth/riches) because of

my incorrect assumption that the body is the Aathma . I threw myself

deeply in to enjoying the pleasures of deomestic life (manai Vaazhkkai).

adiyEn did not pay attention to what was happening all around me .

The great kings who ruled the world , who were eulogized for a long ,

long life (PallANDu) by the most beautiful women of the court adorning

fragrant flowers in their black , shiny tresses , where singing honey bees

frequent . The awesome power of these kings inspired these beautiful

ladies to sing PallANDu for them . They ruled a few years over their

citizens , enjoyed their bhOgams and strutted on the global stage

and died soon after like anybody else . Their power and wealth as

attested by the beautiful woman singers could not help them prolong

their lives . Intha ulahai AaNDavarum MaaNDaar . One day they were

there on the stage and the next day they were gone and forgotten .

They are not going to come back . As Poetess OuvyyAr said

" AaaNDANDu thORum azhuthu puraNDAlum mANDAr varuvarO ? " .

Even if you are roll on the floor and cry out for them , will those ,

who are dead return to this earth asks OuvyyAr here .

 

While they were here acting out their pompous roles , these kings

let their dEham and Indhriyams take over and were totally under their

control . They never developed any VivEkam or VairAgyam and ignored You ,

my Lord and your upadEsams to overcome dEhAthma Brahamam . adiyEn has

learnt from the ignominous end of these mighty kings and their helplessness

inspite of their power ; adiyEn has developed hence the needed VairAgyam

to disengage from these aabhAsa Iswaryams by vanquishing the mischevious

indhriyams of mine . adiyEn used Your upadEsams in GitA to empower me .

ThiruviNNagarAnE ! adiyEn has no more interest in the domestic life .

adiyEn has taken refuge at Your sacred feet for the Parama PurushArTam

of Moksham . Please grace adiyEn with Your anugraham !
