Guest guest
Arul Maa Kadal of Thiru SiRu Puliyoor Dhivya Desam ******************************************************************* In the previous paasuram , Klaiyan sought the Lord's anugraham so that he will not come close to any one of the narakams . In this paasuram , Kaliyan shares the answer that he recieved from BhagavAn on how to avoid those narakams by observing an anushtAnam at SiRu PuliyUr : Muzhu neelamum malar aambalaum aravindhamum viravi kazhuneerodu madavAr avar kaNN vaay mukham malarum sezhuneer vayal tazhuvum Siru PulyUr chala sayanam thozhu neermai athu udayAr adi thozhuvAr thyur ilarE ---7.9.6 The key words of the Paasuram are : " SirupuliyUr Thozhum neermai athu udayAr adi thozhuvAr thuyar ilarE " . (Meaning of the Paasuram ): SirupuliyUr is abundant with ponds , where the fully blue Uthpala pushpam (NeelOthpalam = Kumudham ) , blossoming white & red Aambal (arakkAmbhal) pushpam , red lotus (SenthAmarai) and Senkazhuneer flowers bloom . The individual beauty of these multihued flowers remind one of the soundharyam of the individual limbs of the charming women : their blue eyes , face , red lips and white teeth . Kaliyan points out that even if the beauty of the flowers that you see at the paddy fields and ponds of SiRu PuliyUr may distract you , think of the temptations of the lovely ladies and the associated sensory pleasures but escape from those temptations by taking the cue from " Viraktha SikhAmaNis " ( Masters of dispassion from SamsAric Temptations) , who live at SiRu PuliyUr and worship the Lord there . Worship the sacred feet of those Viraktha BhagavathAs ( TadhiyALs ) , who perform Kaimakryam to the Lord of SiRu PuliyUr by mind , body and speech every moment of their lives . Fall at the holy feet of these BhagavathAs and that anushtAnam alone will free You from all samsAric temptations and resulting sorrows . Through the observance of this easy-to-practise anushtAnam , You will escape the residence in the different narakams . This is the method for staying far away from those fearsome and eternal narakams : " nandhA narakam naNUhA vahai " . Special Notes : ******************* Thirumangai points out that worshipping the Lord of SiRu PuliyUr is the svabhAvam ( neermai) , the intrinsic nature of these BhagavathAs of this dhivya dEsam . Kaliyan salutes them as " SiRu PuliyUr Thozhum neermai athu udayAr " . avarkaL antha niyathi , neermai UdayavarkaL . In this paasuram , Kaliyan performs upadEsam on one of the two central doctrine of Sri VaishNavam as it applies to SaraNAgathAs : (1) not to committ BhAgavathApachAram , which is treated as an asahyApachAram by the Lord and (2) the second asahyApachAram of anyadEvathA worship , which will make saraNAgathy fruitless . Kaliyan's upadEsam here is the worship of the Lord's BhAgavathAs. Bhagavath bhakthi devoid of Bhagavatha bhakthi is svaroopa viruddham (Contrary to one's svaroopam as a sesha- bhUthan, the servant of the Lord ) . Therefore , it is important to please those dear to the Lord so that the Lord Himself will be pleased . Kaliyan is following here the upadEsam of Swamy NammAzhwAr captured in his "NedumArkkadiamai " and " Payilum SudaroLi " Paasurams . Kaliyan has also his own pathikam of ten paasurams ( ThirucchERai Paasurams : Periya Thirumozhi : 7.4 ) , which are known as his " NedumARkkadimai " Paasurams . Here are some excerpts from the ThirucchERai Paasurams , which bring out the importance of the adoration of the BhagavathAs by us : 1 ) ThaNNsERai EmperumAn thALL thozhuvAr KaaNNmin yenn talai mElArE --- Periya Thirumozhi ( PT) : 7.4.1 ( adiyEn will prove to you that the sacred feet of those BhAgavathAs , who worship the Lord at His cool dhivya dEsam of ThirucchERai , will be found on the top of my head ) . 2) EmpermAn thALL thozhuvAr yeppozhuthum yenn manatthE irukkinRArE --- PT : 7.4.2 ( Such BhaagavathAs , who worship Lord SaaranAthan are always residing in my mind ) . 3) They are greater than Nithya Sooris and therefore deserve to be worshipped ( pOthodu punal thUvum PuNNIyarE ViNNavaril polihinRArE -- PT 7.4.3) . 4) adiyEn will never seperate from these BhAgavathAs , who recite the Sahasra Naamams of the Lord of ThirucchERai ( PErALan pErOthum periyOrai orukAlum pirihilEnE ---PT: 7.4.4). 5) " yenn IyaaRivium koNDAnukku AaLAnArkku aaLAm yenn anpu thAnE" ----PT 7.4.7 ( My mind is slave to those , who recognize that the Lord of ThirucchERai is the One , who controls and stills the chEshtais of the mischief making Cognitive senses ) . 6) In the 8th Paasuram of ThirucchERai , Kaliyan states clearly that those worshipping the BhagavathAs of the Lord will not be touched by Yama dharman and as a result , these fortunate ones will never see the inside of hell ( vemm KooRRam uNNAthu ) ; the ever spreading sins of the SamsAric world will not touch those , who worship the Lord's BhAgavathAs ( Jn~Anis) . From what he elaborated about the BhagavathAs in his ten ThirucchERai Paasurams , Kaliyan summarizes that in one line of his SiRu PuliyUr Paasuram : " SiRu PuliyUr chala sayanam Thozhum neermai athu udayAr thuyar ilar " . ( Those MahAns , whose jeevanam is the worshipping of the Lord of SiRu PuliyUr have the power to remove all the samsAra bheehti of people , who prostrate before them . Those MahAns save the people from entering into various narakams ( " NandhA nedu narakatthu idai naNuhA vahai " seyhiRArkaL ) .
