The arrangements for the SamarpaNam of Mutthangi for

our Supreme Mother , ANDAL on Her avathAra dinam at

Srivilliputthur is making progress .

 

The Mutthangi expert Sri KrishNAji , 85 year young traditonalist

who has been involved with the creation of Mutthangis for

ThiruvEngadamudayAn , Sri RanganAthan of Srirangam ,

Oppiliappan Koil Moolavar ( 9 feet plus tall ) is on his way to

SrivilliputthUr this weekend to take the measurements for

the new Angi for ANDAL . Inview of the shortness in time

for completing all the three Muthangis ( For RangamannAr and

PeriyAzhwAr (GarudAmsar) on the Same Peetam ), preference

had to be given to the completion of ANDAL's Mutthangi ,

the intricate sewing of the pearls on the velvet attached to

the body-fitted copper plate below will take more than a month .

This type of stitching is tough on the eye of the stitching expert .

Taiwanese Culture pearls have been chosen over Majorca culture

pearls for this Mutthangi .

 

It will be a busy day at Srivilliputthur on Aadippoora dinam ( August 8, 2005) .

During that evening , the plans are to have the SamarpaNam of

the New Mutthangi and the Dance-Drama based on NaachiyAr

Thirumozhi is planned .

 

An Appeal to AasthikAs

It is not every day , we get a chance to present to BhagavAn's

Devi , Sri Andal , the author of the gems known as ThiruppAvai and

NaacchiyAr Thirumozhi , a new aabhAraNam like the MutthAngi ,

especially on the most sacred day of Her birth in the Flower( TuLasi)

garden of PeriyAzhwAr at Srivilliputthur .

 

Please join this Bhaktha ghOshti to prostrate before ANDAL on

this sacred day and support the Kaimkaryam with whatever funds

you can make available ( $50, $100, $250 ) . Since the program was

announced on June 18 , adiyen has received pledges for $1000 .

It is all ANDAL's blessings that BhakthAs are responding so quickly .

We have a little more way to go to assemble all the funds needed .

Mutthangi & Some Reflections on Mutthu ( Pearls) used in the Angi

Jaathi ( Quality ) Mutthu or precious Peral is dazzlingly white .

Poets are fond of comparing it to the cool rays of Chandran ,

who arose from the Milky Ocean as the brother of MahA Lakshmi

( Chandra SahOdhari) to the coolness and the brightness of the pearls .

 

The whilteness of the pearls are also compared to Mullai pushpam

and also to the radiant while light emanating from the toe nails of

Lord RanganAthan .

 

One of the Five Archaa Moorthys at Oppiliappan Sanndhi has been

saluted by Swamy NammAzhwAr as "Mutthappan " . AzhwAr implies

that the Lord at Oppiliappan ( the PanchAvathAran) is cool like the rays

emanating from His pearl like , Suddha Satthva Maya ThirumEni to

quench the insufferable heat of SamsAram .Swamy NammAzhwAr

states that " The Lord, who has no equal ( TannoppArillappan) ,

gave me the shelter of His Thiruvadi , COOL , SOOTHENING against

the SWELTERING HEAT AND EVEN MORE TO THE TORMENTING

WORLD LIFE HERE " .

 

Swamy Desikan devotes 50 slOkams in praise of the pearls adorning

the Paadhukai of Lord RanganAtha . Swamy Desikan sees the beautiful

white pearls on the Paadhukais along with the Padhma Raagam , Maragatham ,

Indhraneelam gems . Through 50 slOkams , Swamy Desikan brought out

the sookshma TatthvArthams behind the pearls ( Mutthu ) . The meanings

and commentaries on Mukthaa Paddhathi ( 18th Chapter) of Sri RanganAtha
