SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest all,

After mudhal aazhwArs, next we have begun to enjoy

Thirumazhisai AzhwAr’s verses on thiruvEnkatam.

Today’s is the 90th verse in Naanmukhan

ThiruvanthAthi.

vIRRirundhu viNNaaLa vENduvaar, vEngadaththaan

paalthirundha vaiththaarE panmalargaL, - mElthirundha

vaazhvaar varumadhipaarth thanbinaraay, maRRavarkkE

thaazhaa yiruppaar thamar 90

Those who wish to live here in this world with fame

and prosperity and then to go, attain Srivaikuntam and

be there at Paramapadham forever, are the ones who pay

obeisance to Lord of ThiruvEmkatam, by offering

flowers with piety and sincerity.

Those who can know and realise what could be running

in Emperumaan’s mind and do that pleases Him, become

His Great BhakthAs, and are loved by Emperumaan as His

abhimaanis; They ARE MUCH BETTER THAN EVEN THE

FORMER.

Everyone wishes to attain moksham at some time or

other – and it is certain.. Hence performing Ardhanam

for Him is necessary for all devotees. Because, he is

the One who destroys our sins; Because He is ThiruvEm

katatthan. Vem plus katam- One who destroys or burns

the paapams. Meaning: He is the One who grants

mOksham.. after destruction of sins. Anishta nivrtthi

and Ishta praapthi. One who does not do ArAdhanam for

Sriman Narayanan [sreenivasan] thus would not get

mOksham. One who has not surrendered to the Lord

Sriman Narayanan would not cross the ocean of

samsaara.

ThiruvaLLuvar also says the same:

piRavi perunkadal neenduvar neendhaar

iRaivan adi sErAdhaar

Those who have not surrendered to the Lord’s Feet,

would NOT cross the ocean of births. [Others- those

who have performed Saranagathi] will cross.

Ahimsaa prathamam pushpam- even the good qualities can

be offered to Him as flowers. Thus the devotees

perform ArAdhanam.

But being devoted to these devotees, thereby having

Bhaagawatha Ardhanam is better than even Bhagavath

ArAdhanam. We need to perform Bhaagawatha kaimkaryam.

That is the ultimate of Bhagavath kaimkaryam. If we

are truly devoted to the Lord, we would naturally feel

attracted to and be devoted to His dearest darling

devotees as well. We will feel lured to serve them as

well. Thus one needs to involve himself with

Bhaagawatha kaimkaryam much more than Bhagawath

kaimkaryas – says AzhwAr here. If everyone serves the

other devotees like this, then the life would be

blissful for all devotees and together they all

glorify the Lord. Sriman Narayanan would also be

pleased with the same.

Tvadbruthya bruthya parichaaraka bruthya bruthya

Bruthyasya bruthya ithimaam smaralOka nAtha: - says

KulasekarAzhwAr

Other AzhwAr echo the same: Kulasekara Azhvaar

epitomizes the state of mind of all the AzhwArs when

he declares that he will proudly wear on his forehead

the wet mud from the feet of devotees, " thoNdar

sEvadich sezhuncEr en sennikku aNivanE. " PeriAzhvAr

proclaims to the world that the precious feet of the

Lord's devotees are on his head " ... iNaiyadi en

thalai mElanavE. " NammAzhvAr repeatedly refers to

himself as the servant of servant of servant of the

Lord's servant, " thONdar thONdar thONdar thONdan

satakOpan, " and " adiyaar adiyaar thamadiyaar adiyaar

thamak kadiyaar adiyaar tham adiyaar adiyOngaLE. "

This concludes Naanmukhan ThiruvanthAthi verses on

ThiruvEnkatam.

Let us end with the final verse: In a moving summation

of Naanmukhan ThiruvandhAthi, Thirumazhisai AzhwAr

reminds the Lord that he will never ever forget His

RakshaNam ( Kaapu maranthu aRiyEn: Paasuram 93) and

concludes this prabhandham on a majestic note

distilling the essence of Sri VaishNva doctrines:

iniaRinthEn IsaRkkum NaanmuhaRkkum dhaivam

iniaRinthEnem PerumAn unnai -iniaRinthEn

KAARANAM NEE KARRAVAI NEE KARPAVAI NEE: NARRKKIRISAI

NAARANAN NEE NANKARINTHEN NAAN - 96

[According to Dr. VedAntha Desikan]: Oh My Lord! What

have I learnt! I have learnt that You are the Lord to

Siva and Brahma and the like. I have correctly

comprehended Your innate nature. I have learnt also

that You are the cause of all things; that You are the

subject of all learning, that You are going to be the

subject matter of all future knowledge as well. That

is a, things learnt or to be learnt are all out of You

and depend on You. All good acts constitute You (This

is unlike what pertains to other gods). Thus by

acquiring the wisdom on all fronts, I have become

fully fit to speak of as 'my self' (only knowledge

would signify the soul). Thus, I have acquired all the

knowledge that should mark one in at the stage of

Mukthi endowed with Jn~Ana VikAsam (blossoming of true

Jn~Anam).
