SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest all,

 

After mudhal aazhwArs, next we have begun to enjoy

Thirumazhisai AzhwAr’s verses on thiruvEnkatam.

Today’s verse is the 48th verse in Naanmukhan

ThiruvanthAthi.

 

vEngadamE viNNOr thozhuvadhuvum meymmaiyaal

vEngadamE meyvinainNOy thIrppadhuvum, - vEngadamE

thaanavarai vIzhaththan Nnaazhip padaithottu

vaanavaraik kaappaan malai. 48

 

ThiruvEmkatam is the Mountain where NityasUris, pay

their obeisance with Great Bhakti; It is the Mountain,

where even one’s karmic diseases (which unless one

suffers taking various births, will never ever get

erased at all) vanish within a fraction of a second;

It is the mountain where the body diseases even get

cured (VaidhyO NarayanO Harih:) It is the Mountain

where Emperumaan, who destroy the asurAs and protect

the dEvAs with His ChakrAyudham, is standing so

gracefully and divinely.

 

ThiruvEnkatam- Vem + katam- that crushes our karmic

diseases in its entirety.. That burns all our paapams.

Not just karmic; also our bodily diseases.. He is the

chief doctor- VaidhyO nArAyaNo hari:

 

Achutha anantha govindha- naamOcchaaraNa bhEshajaath

Nasyanthi sakalaa rogaath sathyam sathyam

vadhaamyaham.. Says Veda Vyasa.. “By uttering Achutha,

Anantha and Govindhaaaa- all diseases get crushed – It

is TRUTH and Truth- I tell- “says Vyasa.

 

vEnkaarOmrutha bheejam syaath katam aiswaryam

uchayathE.. The word Venkatam grants both aishwaryam

and mOksha saamraajyam. Wealth here as well as there.

Nithyasuris and muktha jeevathmaas enjoy Him during

their mokshaanubhavam… and the devas and celestial

bodies come to ThiruvEkatam for getting back or

retention of their aishwaryam [thereby praying to the

Lord for destruction of their enemies- i.e. asurAs].

Also since it crushes all karmic diseases, everyone in

leela vibhUthi goes to ThiruvEnkatam. Hence the word

Venkatam is uttered thrice by AzhwAr here.

 

Srisa SriyA gatikayA thvadhupAyabhAvE

prApyE thvayi svayamupEyatayA spuranthyA

nithyAsrithAya niravdhyaguNAya thubhyam

kinkarO vrushagirIsa na jaathu mahyam

 

[From sri Sadagopan swami’s translation] Oh Lord of

ThiruvEnkatam hills! Oh Consort of MahA Lakshmi!

Sriya: Pathi! You are indeed the integrated essence of

all auspicious qualities. Your consort makes us worthy

of the object of Your mercy. When we obtain Your

blessings through Her intercession, She also presents

Herself with You as the inseparable divine couple; at

that time, both of You become the object of our

adorations. We will serve both of You with pure

hearts. We shall never be detached from You even for a

moment in thought or deed. We will never consider

ourselves as svatantra purushAs. We are indeed blessed

to receive the benefits of SaraNAgathi performed

according to the way taught by our AchAryAs to secure

Your blessings.
