sRi U.Ve. Injimedu Chetlur Sri RaghavAchar Swamy's SathamAna Uthsavam

will be celebrated by his ThirukkumArars from 31st July to Aug 3 , 2005

at 18 MahAdEvan St, West Mambalam with Veda-dhivya Prabhandhaadhi

PaarAyaNams .

 

Sri U.Ve RaghavAchAr Swamy was born in 1905 just like my Father , whose SathamAna

Uthsavam will be celebrated at Oppiliappan Sannidhi on October 22 , 2005 .

 

Sri RaghavAcchAr Swamy was born on a day in 1905 Aadi , when Lord RamachandrA's

Janma Nakshathram , Punarvasu was in ascendance. He was therefore given the name of

RaaghavAchArya . With that sambhandham , Sri RaaghavAchArya will later become Saabdhika Rathnam ,

U.Ve.VidwAn , Sri RaaghavArya MahA Desikan .

 

Swamy 's father (Sri U.Ve KrishNamAcchAri Swamy ) was such an expert in

the VedAs and completed His VedAdhyanam so quickly that he was given

the title of " Soora VedAdhyAyee" . SrikAryam Swamy of Ahobila Matam today ,

Sri U.Ve. GanapAdi PazhavEri Swamy is revered as another " Soora VedAdhyAyee".

 

Sri U.Ve. RaghavAcchAr Swamy's early studies were under the famous Thillaympoor

Swamy . I believe that the village of Thillaympoor known for its austere scholars in

our sampradhAyam is near the dhivya dEsam of NaacchiyAr Koil . Swamy continued

his further studies at Sri VenkatEswara Oriental College , Thiruppathy under

MahAmahOpAdhya Sri Sethu MaadhavAcchAr Swamy . Swamy showed such talent

in VyAkaraNa Saasthram that he was offered a position of Junior Faculty at the Oriental

College . This college has had many famous faculty such as U.Ve. Vaikunta Vaasi

UtthamUr Swamy . This college had many famous students like U.Ve.VaikuntavAsi ,

Purasai KrishNamAcchAr Swamy , the grandson of the illustrious InjimEdu

Azhagiya Singar (PetAdhipathy: 1929-1953) , who established the MadhurAnthakam

Sanskrit College in 1942 .

 

At the time of founding of the MadhurAnthakam Sanskrit College , U.Ve. Vaikunta Vaasi

Sri GhOshtipuram Swamy was appointed as the FIRST adhyakshar (Principal)

of the College . Sri GhOshtipuram Swamy was one of the greatest VisishtAdhvaitha VedAnthic

Scholar of all times . The Second Adhyakshar was none other than HH the 43rd Pattam

Azhagiya Singar known as Sri DEvanAr ViLAgam Azhagiya Singar ( reign as SrI Matam

PeetAdhipathy from 1953--1957) .

 

Sri U.Ve.RaaghavAcchAr Swamy was appointed as the THIRD Principal of

the MadhurAnthakam Sanskrit College in 1951 , when DevanArvilAgam

Azhagiya Singar accepted SanyAsa Aasramam from HH the 42nd Pattam

Azhagiya Singar and became Chinna Azhagiya Singar . As the third principal,

Sri RaghavAcchAr Swamy did not serve many years since Sriman NaarAyaNan

had called Swamy early in his life to Parama Padham .Swamy was one of the most

prominent scholar in VyAkaraNam and imparted in his students a great respect for

this Saastheram .

 

The SathamAna Uthsavam will reach its peak on Aug 3 , 2005 and during that

evening , there will be a Vidhvath Sadas ( Assembly of Scholars ) on Swamy

Desikan's DayA Sathakam . This is a rare treat for those who can attend .

It will be wonderful if a particpant in this Uthsavam would be able to record

the proceedings of the Dayaa Sathakam Vidvath Sadas .

P.S : The two sons of Saabhdhika Rathnam Swamy have created an endowment

at MadhurAnthakam Schools for the top student in VyAkaraNam . The founders

of the endowment state : " The Endowment would have achieved its purpose , if atleast

ten students are recognized for their proficiency in VyAkaraNa Saasthram ". This is

a moving tribute by the sons to their Scholarly Father .
