Dear BhakthAs :

Sriman Sriram Srinivasan has rendered a great Kaimkaryam by

providing the Yanthrams ( Kolams /Syllabic geometry ) used in

the Pooja Graham by the Ladies of the house on each of the 7 days of

the week and the slOkams to go with those Yanthra Kolams on these

days:

http://www.ibiblio.org/sripedia/ebooks/vdesikan/rps/chitra.html

Sri RanganAtha PadhukA sahasra SlOkams are all very powerful .

They have tremendous manthra siddhi that leads to Kaarya Siddhi .

Those from the Chithra Paddhathis ( the 7 Yanthrams picked for

the seven days ) are very auspicious for worship by the ladies

in this context .

Please use them . Please draw these kolams in your Pooja Grahams ,

recite the slokams of the day and after that gently remove by hand ,

the Yanthram after prostrating before it .

Swamy Desikan's limitless skills as a poet is revealed in the creation

of these slOkams in the Yanthram ( Sabhdha Chithrams ) in Sri RanganAtha

PaadhukA sahasram ( 1000 slOkams composed in less than three hours) .

in the Chithra Paddhathi section of the Sahasram .

There is another Kaavyam of Swamy Desikan ( Sri YaadhavAbhudhayam) ,

where Swamy Desikan has housed additional exquisite Chithra Bhandhams

( Sixth chapter).

Some of these are :

1. gOmUthrika Bhandham

2. YekasTAna , DhvisTAna and ThrisTAna Bhandhams

3. AnOshDa Chithram

4. GooDa Chathurtha Chithrm

5. Ardha Yamaka Chithram

6. anulOma-PrathilOma gatha prathyAgatha chithram

7. Dhvaya akshara Chithram Using only two aksharams :

Example( 6.83) using " ta " and " Ra " only :

tathra tathrAthitArEthrta tArAtheetha ruttharE

tarEth thAthAratheerEthAtatE thrathari tE rathi:

(Meaning ) : Oh NandhgOpAla, My Father ! This mountain (Govardhanam )

will lead to your display of affection through the removal of many

dissatisfactions . This protective mountain , where many great sounds

are heard and having trees in their heights reach out and surpass

the stars of the sky is the welcoming abode for those , who sought it

as their home .

All of these deep menaings are provided by the use of just the two aksharams

( ta and ra ) in different sandhis .

7. There are a few Thrayyakshara Bhandhams ( with 3 aksharams only).

8. PrathipAdha BhinnaikAkshara Bhandham .

9. SarvathObhadhra Bhandham

10. Ardha Bhramakam

11. Chakra Bhandham , MahA Yamakam

12. Ashta dhaLa padhmam and yEkAkshara Bhandham

Let us focus on the incredible power of Swamy Desikan to use

just one akshjaram to create words to provide deep meanings :

The aksharam " naa " is repeated 32 times in this slOkam ( 6.96) ;

the four quarters have 8 of these " naa " aksharam :

nAnAnAnAnAnAnAnA nAnAnAnAnAnAnAnA

nAnAnAnAnAnAnAnA nAnAnAnAnAnAnAnA

The breakdown is as follows : nAnAna anAnAna ana ana nA nAnA na A: na A:

etc.

The first nAnA is the sambhOdhanam ( hailing ) of Lord KrishNA's foster

father: NandhagOpAlan ( KoorvEr Thozhilan NandhagOpan) . 'A' represents

VishNu ( Sarvam khalvidham BrahmEthi) . " A: " VishNu: nAnA nAnA nAnAroopam

jagath vinA na bhavathy . SarvavyApeethi yAvath . VishNurEva rakshaka:

ithyarTa: , nA: means arakshakan . A: means Rakshaka VishNu . Arakshakan

is Indhran , whom the GopAs were going to worship .

The above version is the intrepretaion of Appaya Dikshithar , who wrote

a commentary for YaadhavAbhyudhayam .

Another level of meaning according to UtthamUr Swamy is : " That which is

not fit for AarAdhanam will stay that way . That which is worthy of worship

will stay that way .Those which are approved for worship by some and

rejected by others will continue to stay that way . Their inherent svaroopam

will not change. Some comprehend/ intrepret this differently . Even then ,

the truth will not change.

Mysterous and profound indeed are Swamy Desika Sri Sookthis empowered by

Lord HayagrIvan . Please support the MahA mantapa Kaimkaryam at

Oushadha Giri of Thiruvaheendhrapuram and plan to attend Swamy Desikan's

Thirunakshthram celebrations there this year ( october 12,2005) and be

blessed :
