Dearest all,

Let us continue to enjoy Thirumangai AzhwArs wonderful

verses on Thiruvenkatamudiayaan.

kalayaami kalidhvamsam kavim lOkadhivaakaram

yaSya kObi: prakaaSaabir aavidhyam niHatham thama:

I meditate on the Poet, who is like the Sun for the

whole world, to destroy the darkness of ignorance

(a~jnAnam) with his word and who destroys the Kali

dhOsham.

ThirumangaiAzhwAr proceeds to plead the Lord of

TirumalA for His unbounded limitless mercy that pours

out on His own -out of His Greatest compassion on us.

Let us enjoy this nice ten on AzhwAr's plea.

Oh Lord! The One who conquered the seven Oxen and

killed them for joining the deer-like eyed- most

beautiful Nappinnai PiraaTTi! The One who is so SWEET

like the Honey! (thEnE!) the King of ThiruvEmkatam!

You have come to reside permanently in my heart!

Same incident is referred to by PeriyAzhwAr in his

Thirumozhi [1.6.7]

Once, when playing with Gopikas, for getting Nappinnai

PiraaTTi (who is the most beautiful Peacock and the

dark haired girl), and making the words of cowherd

folks? true, He victoriously destroyed the seven

strong bulls and became the husband of pure hearted

Nappinnai PiraaTTi. For getting back the missing son

of VaidIka Brahmin from His own Paramapadham, He rode

the bright chariot to Paramapadham and brought back

the sons to the motherly figure, - wife of Brahmin. My

father! Dance for me. Aduga senkeerai Aduga AdugavE.

The cowherd folks right from his childhood decided

that Nappinnai PiraaTTi, the most beautiful One is

only for KaNNan and hence made such a tough test for

the Boys to get married to her so that none others can

do it. KaNNan only could do it. (Yaadhavaabhyudhayam-

4.98)

Swami Desikan in his Yadavabhyudayam has referred

Nappinnai as Neelaa Devi of the Bhagavatam, Hari

Vamsam, Mahabharatam et al. The Vedanta Desika

Research society had published an English translation

of Yadavabhyudayam.

Appayya Dikishitar has also written a beautiful

commentary on

Yadavabhyudayam.
