Dear BhakthAs of Thiruvaheendhrapuram Achyuthan:

Let us study 5 more slOkams ( 41- 45 ) today .

SlOkam 41:( The description of the Lord's Thighs)

***************************************************************

DhaasAnAm Sathya dhrusyathE

dhAnava veerNAm dheerga nidhrA Sayanam

tavOdhara-sTitha thribhuvana prasAdha

stambha-sacchAyam UrU-yugam

(Meaning according to D.R.Swamy): Daasa Sathya ! Your twin thighs

are the final resting place for the vanquished asurA chiefs and they

appear to be the sturdy pillars supporting the mansion of Thy stomach

containing the three worlds .

( Comments) : Adiyavarkku MeyyavanE ! Your thighs are the death bed

for the asura kings like Madhu-KaiDabhAs , HiraNyakasipu et al . They were

crushed there and destroyed by You ( Tava Uru yugam dhaanava veerANAm

dheerga nidhraa Sayanam ) Swamy Desikan jokingly alludes to death

as dheerga nidhrA for the asurAs . Further , Your thighs are like the twin

pillars for supporting Thy palatial stomach holding all the three worlds

inside it ( Tava Uru yugam udhara sTutha thribhuvana prasAdhAsya

sTambhacchAyam bhavathy) .

SlOkam 42:(The description of the Lord's sacred feet )

***********************************************************************

Jaanu MaNi dharpaNEna cha

jangaa marakatha kaLAchikayA cha dhanyA

Achyutha na munjathy kaanthi

Lakshmeeriva sarOjalAnchanou Tava charaNou

(Comments):The key words are : " Achyutha ! Jaanu jangaa Kaanthy

Lakshmi iva , SarOja-laanchanou Tava charaNou na munjathy ". Oh Lord!

Your knees and ankles do not part with Your lotus-emblemed feet like

MahA Lakshmi . Your knees shine like a mirror of gem . Your ankles with

the lustre of green gem , Maragatham , are like the beautiful vessel for

holding thAmpoolam . Your sacred feet are marked by such signs of

beauty and have the lotus emblems on their soles . MahA Lakshmi

presses those feet with Her lotus hands and is never seperated from

them . Just like MahA Lakshmi does not leave them , the kaanthi of

those feet never leave those sacred feet as well ( dhanyA kaanthii:

Tava charaNou na munjathy) .

SlOkam 43 ( Continuation of the Salutation to the Lord's Thiruvadi)

*************************************************************************************

Sruthi seemantha prasUnam SObhathE

natha Sathya Tava sarvacharaNyam

kramaNa kshaNa janitha sura-nadhee

praSamitha thrailOkya pAthakam Padha padhamam

(Meaning according to D.R.Swami) : Daasa Sathya ! Thy lotus foot ,

from which the Deva GangA emerged at the moment Thou didst measure

the world and thereby destroyed the sins of all the three worlds , that foot

serves as the flower that bedecks the head of the VedAs and shines as

the Protector of one and all .

(Comments): Thrivikrama avathAram is the focus of this slOkam .

The Veda Siras (Upanishads) adorn the Thiruvadi that measured

the three universes as their head ornamnet ( Tava Padha Padhmam

Sruthy seemantha prasoonam) . The Divine GangA river , which arose at

the time of Your measuring the universes with Your steps (kramaNa kshaNa

janitha Sura Nadhi ) removes all the sins of the people of these worlds

thru Your sambhandham ( Sura Nadhi praSamitha thrailOkya paathakam ) .

Those sacred feet of Yours shine as the Protecting object for all ( Sarva

SaraNyam SObhathE ) .

SlOkam 44 ( The enjoyment of the Lord by His adiyArs)

***********************************************************************

ithi thribhuvanaika moolam

AasvAdhayanthyanagaa amrutha-svAdhu-rasam

Oshadhi Maheedhara paarsvE

udhitham ThvAm Oshadheemiva dhAsarujAm

(Meaning according to D.R.Swamy) : The faultless ones thus enjoy Thee ,

Thee who didst emerge near(an) Oushadhi hill , who art the sole root for

all the three worlds , who art sweet as nectar , and who art the herb

capable of curing Thy devotees of their sins .

(Comments) : With the previous slOkam , the limb by limb enjoyment

of the Lord's ThirumEni ended . This slOkam sums up the samudhAya (Collective)

Sobhai (beauty) of the Lord's dhivya MangaLa vigraham celebrated in slOkams 29

to 43 and enjoyed in a rapturous manner by the blemishless BhAgavathas

of the Lord (Anagaa:AasvAdhayanthy ) . Swamy Desikan salutes this nectar

that appeared at the side of the Oushadha Giri in Thiruvaheendhrapuram

( Oushadha maheedhara pArSvE udhitham) and compares Him to the tap

root for all the three worlds ( Thribhuvana yEkamoolam ) . Swamy Desikan

goes on next to salute the Lord Achyuthan's s SubhASrayathvam . His divine

auspicious form ( Dhivya MangaLa vigraham) has Subhathvam (MangaLam)

as well as Aasrayathvam( qualities as the refuge for those seeking

His protection ) .

In the context of SubhAsrayathvam of the Lord's ThirumEni , D.R.Swamy quotes

the following slOkam that points out the destruction of all the sins for those ,

who have the bhAgyam of seeing the PurushOtthaman's ThirumEni from

His lotus peetam to the crown :

AapeetAn MouLi paryantham pasyatha: PurushOtthamam

PadhakAnyAsu naSyanthi kim punasthu upapAdhakAn

Achyuthan is saluted further as the samsAric disease-curing effective

herb , which also has the further trait of being delectable to enjoy like

sweet tasting nectar (Amrutha svAdhu rasam ) , while serving as

the curative herb for the samsAric diseases of His daasAs ( Daasa-

rujAm oushadhi) .

SlOkam 45 (The Lord's ThirumEni revealing His Svaroopam)

*****************************************************************************

siddhAnjanamiva SyAmam Tava tanum

nija vilOchanEshu kshipantha:

Achyutha Lakshmee-nivAsam

nithya nigUDam nidhimiva pasyanthi ThvAm

( Meaning according to D.R.Swamy ) : Achyutha ! Those who apply

(take in and gaze with love and devotion ) Thy ShyAma ThirumEni

to their eyes like anjanam (collyrium) prepared by the siddhAs ,

are able to percieve Thee , who art the residing place for Lakshmi ,

as an ever-hidden treasure (concelaed )when wealth is in abundance .

(Comments) : In the previous slOkam , the power of the sEvai of the Lord's

ThirumEni was covered . Here , Swamy Desikan compares the Lord's

dark bluish-black body to the anjanam (collyrium ) used by the SiddhAs

to reveal hidden things . Here the reference is to the Lord's ThirumEni

revealing the Svaroopam ( inherent nature) , guNAs ( attributes) and

VibhUthi ( wealth/ Lakshmi-NaarAyaNathvam ) . The above factors that

one was not aware of before becomes patently visible now after

the darsana soubhAgyam of the Lord's ThirumEni .

The key words of this slOkam are : " SyAmam Lakshmi nivAsam Tava Tanum

(pasyantha:) , nithya nigooDam ThvAm , nidhim iva pasyanthi ". When your

dhivya ThirumEni is adorned by the blemishless BhAgavathAs

in their eyes (SiddhAnjanamiva nija vilOchanEshu kshpantha: ) , then

they see Your svaroopam , attributes and wealth clearly like a treaure

in front of them .
