Guest guest
SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah: Dearest all, Let us continue to enjoy Thirumangai AzhwArs wonderful verses on Thiruvenkatamudiayaan. kalayaami kalidhvamsam kavim lOkadhivaakaram yaSya kObi: prakaaSaabir aavidhyam niHatham thama: I meditate on the Poet, who is like the Sun for the whole world, to destroy the darkness of ignorance(a~jnAnam) with his word and who destroys the Kali dhOsham. Let us enjoy Periya Thirumozhi 9.7.4 on ThiruvEnkatam. In this 9.7, AzhwAr addresses his mind saying We are not able to get rid of our longing for the worldly pleasures; this life is tremendously transitory; flickering life; never-ever permanent; the carnal desires attack us; the material wealth is never permanent and does not stay with us for ever. Realizing this, and leaving all of them, if at all, we search for athma jnAnanm; then we need to realize that other religions and doctrines are completely non-Vedic and utter only the name of Lord of Thiruvallavaazh. (Excellent ten- more appropriate for us, in its entirety. Let us enjoy our verse i.e. the 4th) 'paNNulaam meNnmozhip paavaimaar paNaimulai aNaithum nNaam,'eNnRu, eNNuvaar eNNama dhozhiththunNI pizhaiththuyyak karuthi NnaayEl, viNNuLaar viNNiNnmI thiyaNnRavENG kadaththuLaar, vaLaNGgoL munNnNIr vaNNaNnaar vallavaazh chollumaa vallaiyaay maruvu nNenchE! 9.7.4 4. nenjamE! [oh my dear mind] If you plan to escape from thoughts and influences of people who always dream of hugging the tender breasts of young women, then all that you need to is: Have the strength to utter the divine name of Thiruvallavaazh Emperumaan, who stands permanently at ThiruvEmkatam, and shows Himself to Devas; who shows Himself always to Nithyasooris at Paramapadham; and who has the Divinely beautiful ocean like bluish form. AzhwAr addressesb his mind here asking the same to get rid of sensual pursuits and attempt to get rid of samsaaric affliction. AzhwAr echoes the same sentiment in his 6.2 decad of Periya Thirumozhi on ThiruvviNNagar [Oppiliappan PerumAL] a brilliant verse. paaNdEn vaNdaRai yumkuzha laar_kaLpal laandisaippa, aaNdaar vaiyamel laam_arasaaki, mun NnaaNdavarE maaNdaa renRuvan^ thaar_an^thO!manai vaazhkkaithannai vENdEn, ninnadain^ thEn_thiru viNNagar mEyavanE [sixth decad 5th verse] The young women, who have fragrant black tresses that house bees drinking honey from the flowers bedecked on the hair, address and greet their " great " kings as “Long live” and those kings, who had ruled the worlds have now gone dead and are no more - This is also a fact, from time immemorial. This wealth is never ever permanent. Nothing is permanent except being servant of His in his abode. Hence, I do not want this family material life and any more, nor its transitory pleasures; Thus, leaving all that, adiyEn surrenders to Your Feet only,, ThiruviNNagaraanE! These are more meant for us; and not for AzhwArs… Thirumangai AzhwAr ThiruvaDigaLE SaraNam Regards Namo Narayana dAsan
