Thondanur - Part-1 - Sri Nambhi Narayan Temple

SrihiRespected bahagavathas,http://www.pbase.com/svami/nambinarayanan_templeAdiyen had perumbhghayam of visitng Thondanur now knonw as Kere-Thonnur, the historic place for us Sri Vaishnavas. It was at this place Our Bhagvath Ramanuja landed in Karnataka Soil and here only He got a Gem of a Devotee named Thondnur Nambhi and it is said Perumal Nambhi Naryan Himself did the Samaashrayanam to Thondanur Nambhi . It is in this very place, where Udayavar drove away the Brahma rakshasa, which had caught the King Bitti Deva's daughter and Bitti deva later-on embraced Sri Vaishnavism.The name Vishnuvardhana was given to Bitti deva, by Bhagwath Ramanujar after Taking him into Sri Vaishnava Fold. The Archa Moorthy is one and first of the Pancha Narayana Moorthy which Udayavar did prathistai in Karnataka - Mel Nadu. The Archa is very tall and it is having a 'Pal Vadiyum Mukham', I had been visiting this temple since 3/ 4 years but did not have the oppurtunity to have the Pictures , but with Udhyavars blessings, i managed to take pictures and also collect the Pictures. Now i am posting it for you in three Parts. First one is Nambhi Narayana Temple. Here Moolavar is Nambhi Narayan , The archa is tall and He is holding Shanku and Chakra in front Hand in reverse order as if he is doing Samaashrayanam to us. The Padmam and Gada in Back. Thayar is Known as Aravindvalli. The Uthasava Moorthy is the replica of Moola Moorthy. I had the oppurtunity to go on 29th January along with my Cousin Brother and The Nambhi Narayan Temples Priests brother is working along with my cousin.I have to bring one thing to light that even though the Archelogical Survey of India has taken the upkeep of the temple, nothing is done and litrellay tears will flow down, if you see the Lord with no new bright Vastram, no proper lamp and every time the priest comes out, he will put out the lamp and come and Lord is in dark. The Lighting is very poor. The priest himself is surviving on just Rs.25/- per month (!!). The Beautiful Lake built by Udayavar here is just 20 Kms from Melkote.I spoke with Bhattar and he informed that He needs Rs.100/- per day to perform Pooja ,Naivedhyam and pushpa Kainkaryam for Lord. I am sure you all will come forward and do something for this temple. Our Bretherns living abroad can take up the Pooja for each month and get the Lords Blessings. Hi srihi,

 

It is a really beautifull temple.

 

Last time i visited the temple on 1st Jan 2006..We found out that temple doesnt

 

have proper electricity and whole place is poorly maintained

 

It is the same place where our Ramanujacharya stayed for 12

 

Years and preached vaishnavism.

 

I believe we can see ramanujacharya's feet carving outside the temple.

 

The day we visited the temple power was not there/they cannot maintain so

 

priest has kept a big mirror outside the temple and sun's reflection lit up the

l

 

lord's face.Believe me the lords face was smiling and more charming

 

when viewed like this..I never felt of leaving the place...But again i felt sad

of

 

poor maitanenance of temple also....
