Thiruvenkatamudiayaan.

 

BhakthAmrutham viswa janAnumodhanam

sarvArthatham Sri Satakopa Vaangmayam

sahasra SaakOpanishadh samAgamam

namAmyaham Draavida Vedha Saagaram

 

Meaning ): adiyEn salutes the ocean of Tamizh Vedam ,

which is of the form of Sri SaThakOpan's vaak

(speech/aruLiccheyalkaL). These are linked to the

thousand upanishads and includes in them all the deep

meanings (Taathparyams)of Tatthva-Hitha-PurushArthams

and artha Panchakam. They are nectar to the minds of

the devotees of Sriman NaarAyaNan and they enjoy it

with relish as aparyAthAmrutham [insatiable amirtham].

 

Today’s ThiruvEnkatam verse is: NammAzhwAr’s

Thiruvaaymozhi 3.3.3

 

aNNal maayan aNikoLsenN thaamaraik

kaNNan, sengani vaaykkaru maaNikkam,

theNNi Raiccunai neertthiru vEngadatthu,

eNNil tholpugaz vaanava reesanE. 3.3.3

 

TirumalA, which contains ponds with crystal clear

water, is the place of ThiruvEnkatamudaiyaan, who has

the unbounded glories and attributes; He is the Chief

of NitysUris; The Mayyan- My Lord's eyes are like Red

Lotus flowers which are most beautiful; He, who has

the Most Beautiful Red Coral lips, has got the form

like a Big Black Emerald (karumANickkam);

 

In 3.3.3 (ANNal Mayan--) : Here Azhwaar salutes the

literally countless auspicious attributes of the Lord

and hints that it is His daya and Sowlabhyam that

stand out and make Him accessible to us readily.

 

In the last verse.. AzhwAr addressed Lord as the

father of all his forefathers… when he addresses

himself as the dasa of dasa of dAsa of dasa of dAsa of

the Lord sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan. My Swami’s

Swami’s Swami’s Adhibhoothan.. We need to serve Him at

all times. Come on in… he addresses [us].

 

You are asking and wishing. Will you get? When asked,

azhwAr says: He grants Nithyasuriss the kaimkarya

ruchi and praapti; will He not give us? – AzhwAr

responds. Our aNNal [Chief] is Sarva Swami; He is

Thirumalai Srinivasan; He is maayan- Mysterious most

wonderful Lord; aascharya bhoothan; He is the Chief of

all; yet He is so easily accessible with His

sowlabhya, sowseelya guNas; hence He is Ascharya

bhoothan; He is the most beautiful red lotus eyed Lord

[senthaamaraik kaNNan]. For such most beautiful large,

well laid out dark well spread red lotus eyed Lord,

there is not a need for any other ornament. Those

lovely eyes have coolness, fragrance, bloom, and

beauty and hence are equated to red lotus flowers.

Thus the red lotus like eyes; the red bimbha fruit and

red coral like curvy lips and red mouth.. [jyOthi

vaay]. Dark blue hued gem stone like divine beauty

[karu maaNickam]; [where is He? ] where the crystal

clear water stream flows – Tirmalai. The mountain –

cool fragrant one that relaxes the devotees from their

exertion and strains [sramaharamaana Thirumalai].

 

eNNil tholpugazh- when thinking of His most auspicious

attributes [kalyANa guNAs], there is no limit; He

possesses innumerable infinite kalyANa guNAs. Anantha

kalyANa guNagaNouka mahaarNavan; ocean of infinite

kalyANa guNAs.

 

His Holiness Thirukkudanthai Andavan adds: yathA

rathnAni jalathE asankhyEyaani puthraka. He is the

Lord of Nithyasuris. He is the Chief of both worlds.
