A report on Srimath Srimushnam Andavan's

Thirunakshatram Celebrations in New York

By the grace of Sri Ranga nayika sametha Sri Ranganatha Perumal, Sri

Ranganatha Padukas and all the purvacharyas' padukas, the 72nd

thirunakshatram Srimath Srimushnam Andavan was celebrated yesterday in a

grand manner befitting our Acharyan @ Sri Ranganatha Temple in Pomona, New

York.

 

Bhagavath Ramanuja, the uthsava murthy of Sri Ramanuja Mission graced the

occasion to witness the thirunakshatram in the presence of all the beautiful

presiding deities of Sri Ranganatha Temple. Bhagavath Ramanuja was welcomed

with traditional temple honors where He performed mangalasasanam for the

perumal.

 

 

The event started around 09:30 AM in the presence of huge gathering of

bhagavathas who had assembled to be part of celebrations. It was also an

auspicious day chosen by the temple to perform the prana pratishta of Dwaja

Sthambha of the temple. Amidst the holy chanting of veda ghosham on this

occasion, Udaiyavar along with the deities of the temple witnessed Srimath

Andavan's thirunakshatram being celebrated by the devotees with utmost piety

and devotion. Bhagavatha ghoshti started off reciting

nithyanusandhanam(Thiruppallandu, Thiruppalliyezhucchi and Thiruppaavai)

followed by Sri Desika Sthothrams, Sri Desika Prabhandham, Iraamanusa

Nootrandhaadhi, Pillai Andhadhi, Sri Ranganatha Paduka Sahasram(full

recitation), Sundara Kandam of Sri Valmiki Ramanayam and Sri Vishnu

Sahasranamam. Paduka Aradhanam was peformed for Srimath Srimushnam Andavan

after the parayanam.

 

 

As was announced earlier, momentous occasion came to honor one of the

eminent sri vaishnava scholars residing outside of India, Sri. U.Ve.

Oppiliappan Koil Varadachari Sadagopan with the title " Kainkarya Rathnam "

SRM's most prestigious award in recognition of his tireless efforts and

lifetime of accomplishments and service to the sustenance and nourishment of

Sri Ramanuja philosophy. This title carries with it an honorary plaque and

blessings from HH Srimath Andavan Sri Rangaramanuja Mahadesikan. Sri

Sadagopan swami accepted the felicitations and spoke very highly of Sri

Ramanuja Mission's various kainkaryams and its service to the srivaishnava

community.

 

 

About 150 bhagavathas had gathered to witnessa grand Periya sathumurai

(vedam and prabhandham) witnessed by adiyen in a long time where Acharya

Sambhavanai was performed for Srimath Srimushnam Andavan. Perumal and Paduka

theertham was served to all the devotees who waited patiently for their turn

to receive them and get the blessings of perumal and Srimath Andavan. The

thirunakshatram celebrations concluded around 2:30 PM followed by a grand

feast for all the devotees.
