Dear All:

Sriman Jayasayanan has summarized well the arguments

about Prapatthi being an independent means for Moksham.

I will add more information on this important subject soon.

Regarding No prapatti in Gita indicated by Shrimad Ramanujachariar

Adiyen Dasan:

Few days before I saw this query been raised

To this answer was given by Nainaaraacharyar in his Rahasyatraya Saaraartha Sangrah

Shrimad Ramanujacharya, as criticised by few, said to interpret this line as prapatti is only a limb of bhakti but not an independent means. Aacharya explains that intention of Bhaashyakaara is different. Lord at many places indicated that he is bestower of all that one wants and prapatti is capable of conferring all that one needs. Shrimad Ramanujacharya is of the view that when prapatti which is all, effacacious is made a limb of bhaktiyoga, these latter yogas also will become capable of conferring fruits on the aspirants. This only adds to the great efficacy of prapatti.Svetaasvataram vide VI-18 yo brahmaanam vidadhaati poorvam yo vai vedaamshcha prahinoti tasmaitamha devam aatmabuddhiprakaasam mumukshur vai charanam aham prapadyeas a proof sanctioning prapatti as a direct means of salvation. Aacharya points out that charama sloka is explanatory of this mantra
