Guest guest
SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya nama: Dearest all, For ages, there is always a question still asked to us- why Vaishnavas i.e. Srivaishnavas do not worship anyone other than Sriman Narayanan? In spite of all the explanations, the query still lingers even among Srivaishnavas [leave alone others]. Let us see and understand in simple manner. In the world, there is a common goal for all religions. That is: old age, hunger. Diseases, deaths are all inevitable and how do we get rid of or escape from this.. The solution that is brought forth by religions is to submit this lowly soul or self [namely jeevathma] at the feet of faultless, blemishless, Supreme God.. who is capable and who will grant us Salvation. Before other religions even were born, our religion had the solution and not just that; our religion also categorized the goal into four: dharma, artha, kaama and moskha. The arttham, and kaamam are caught between the dharmam and moksham. Thus born in this world, performing our dharma, earning and attaining materials [arttha], wealth for enjoyment [kaamam] and finally attain moksha [salvation]. Thus each is a milestone. What is this moksha? It is deliverance; liberation; escape; release; in Tamil it is called Veedu vidupaduthal] or Home… Jeevathmaas’ actual and Real Home is SrivaikuNtam or His Lotus Feet and that is where we belong to. The homes that we currently reside in are like temporary stay. Only Mukundan can grant mOksham. Only Sriman Narayana can grant moksham. It is categorically declared in surthi, smrithi, Ithihasa purANAs. Chathurmukha Brahma, Rurdran can not grant moksha. Veda Vyasa says: sathyam, sathyam punas sathyam udhruthya bhujam uchayathE vedaas saasthram param naasthi na deivam kesavaath param Truth; truth; Truth; This is nothing but truth. I raise my hands and say: It is my declaration. There is nothing grander than Vedanta saasthras; None greater than Kesavan. The other demigods are all bound by karma vaasanas like us. They are caught at times in the thamO, rajO guNAs and go astray; finally get saved by Sriman Narayana. They at times grant material boons to their devotees, get themsevles caught by the same granting of boons and finally get saved by Sriman Narayanan. Readers do know such incidents. Even though their granting of material fruits may be transitory, and lowly in nature, their ability to give such fruits and the power to grant such fruits comes from Sriman Narayanan and as bestowed upon them by Him. They are under His authority and power only; But the granting of mOksham is not granted to anyone else. Only Sriman Narayanan can grant the same. Ok.. one can get moksham after death. What about the living present? VishNu Dharmam answers: Sareera aarogyam artthamscha bhOgan chaiva aanushagikaan | dadhAthi dhyAyinAm nithyam apavarga pradhOhari: || Janaardhanan, ParamAthmA not only grants mOksham; He can grant other worldly pursuits as well. But He would not grant the same blindfoldedly [like other demigods] and He would grant as it deems fit for the future of the devotee and for his welfare… Similar to the parent who many times even refuse to grant what the child asks [as it would hamper the child’s health or well being]. Hence, regardless of what we desire for- be it moksham or worldly pursuits, it is Sri Mukundan who can grant them all. Veda Vyasa says in mahabharatham Saanthi parvam 350-56: Brahmaa, Rudran, devendran, et al are not worshipped by those who are vivEkis.. [with discriminatory abilities]; because they can NOT grant permanent solutions. Their grants are temporary; asthiram; will perish; They do not have at all the power to grant mOksham. This moksham can be granted only by Sriman Narayanan. Hence mumukhsu [one who is desirous of salvation; one who is desirous of final redemption from all these samsaaric afflictions] needs to surrender to the lotus feet of Sriman Narayanan alone for getting final salvation and to attain mOksham. He needs to have unconditional and unflinching faith on Him – i.e. Sriman Narayanan – in view of the foregoing. It should be one focus; unconditional; mumukshu should never ever think that others can grant moksham. Because they can not. It is equivalent to chaste woman being devoted to or in love with her pathi [husband]. That is the kind of viswAsam- mahaa viswAsam the mumukshu should possess. It does not mean- that Srivaishnavas do not respect other devathas. It is only emphasized that mumukshus should not go to seek other demigods as they can not grant moksham at all [and that is what is prescribed].. 1. The respect for every other demi gods is also there as these devathas are nothing but His sareeram [body]. Angaaanyanyaa devathaa: as per our Srivaishnava VisishtAdvaita Sampradayam, all jeevathmas, matter are all His sareeram; not just that He indwells in them as the in-dweller in all human beings [anathryaami roopam]. Like we are His Body, the other devathaas [demi gods like Chathurmukha Brahma, Rudra and Devendran also] are His sareeram. If someone disrespects our hand and face or leg and causes harm to that, but respect our athmaa, will be tolerate? Similarly if we show disrespect to other devathas, He won’t tolerate. SO… while we have unconditional faith and unflinching viswAsam on Him and His saving us, we would not show disrespect to other devathas; But we would not seek their protection nor would we ask them for anything, as it is equal to asking the gate keeper of the king’s palace or the soldier while the King is waiting for us inside.. We do not seek anything from Him except to serve Him anyway. 2. Also everything and everyone is His creation; Like we are His children, other devathas also are His children. Let us not show disrespect to our fellow children… 3. these devathas are all jeevathmas and are always influnced by the three guNAs like any other jeevathmas [in this leela vibhuthi]; so, when the sattva guNA is in upswing, they are devoted to Sriman Narayanan and worship Him in much more intense manner [as they have reached that position due to their goodness]; For example, Sivan is considered Parama Srivaishnava Sri – one of the great Bhagawathas and there can not be any grander VishNu bhakthan – it is told. Hence one should never commit apacharam to such bhAgwath Sri.. even those who think it is not ripe for moksham; and think that they can go to other temples; pray to other deities; ask whatever lowly that they want… no problem. Let us not bother about what others do… Those think of temporary pleasures as adequate and these materialistic fruits as enough.. can continue to do so… Those who would like to get rid of this suffering- any further births- should abide by what is told herein. asaara, alpa saara, saara, saarathara, temporary pleasures are not to be sought by us, who are desirous of moksha- eternal kaimkarya praapthi at His feet. [the above post is a free translation of the article by Sri Anbil Ramaswamy SwAmi on VaiNavargaLum vazhipaadum] Thus mOksham can be granted by One and Only Sriman Narayanan.. saraNamaagum thanthaaL adaindhaarkeellaam maraNam aanaaal vaikunTham kodukkum piraan more of this later.. asmadhAchArya paryanthAm vandhE GuruparampArAm Regards Namo Narayana dasan ______________________________\ ____ Cheap talk?
