Guest guest
SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya nama: Dearest all, The Divya Dampathi Sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan and Mahalakshmi are the means and goal. Their Supreme Daya on us is always to be cherished by us. Swami Desikan enlists the upakaarams that the Divya Dampathi have done to us….-in his upakaara sangraham. 1. Controlling the essential nature, characteristic and actions of all the objects in the Universe, [objects include Sentient – Jeevathmas as well) and non-sentient (achethanas)] and making the jeeva to be eligible to attain Salvation which is the eternal bliss 2. The Supreme Goal to a Jeeva is the attainment of moksha which is the eternal bliss. The means of attainment of Moksha is either bhakti yoga [continuous meditation on the Lord Sriman Narayana] or Saranagati [Performance of Saranagati at His Lotus Feet] . To perform bhakti yogam, jnAnam (knowledge) and qualifications are required. So, the Lord has given the necessary knowledge to the Jeeva to resort to either of the above two means. This knowledge is an attribute to the Jeeva and this is called Dharmabhootha jnAnam. The Lord has made this Dharmabhootha jnAna as an eternal attribute to the jeevathma to enable him to attain moksha. This is an important act of help [upakaaram] of the Lord. There are two types of knowledge [jnana] associated with the Jeevathma. The first is Dharmi jnAna which is the knowledge of the self. It means the Jiva himself. The attribute is called Dharma jnAna. It is like the lamp and the luster. So, the comparison is: Lamp is Dharmi; luster is dharma. To cognize an object, a knowledge is required and that is dharma bhootha jnAna. 3. From time immemorial, [with no beginning], the Jeevathma is immersed in Samsaara afflicted by Avidhya [avidhya means the past deeds in the form of karma – sins and good deeds. On account of these sins, he goes to the hell and undergoes punishment for the sins. On account of the good deeds [puNya] he goes to the heaven and at the time of deluge he will be just like an inanimate object without knowledge. The Lord shows His mercy towards these jeevathmas subjected to the above suffering to have a fresh lease of life and give him another chance. 4. Jeevathma who is immersed in the stream of sins that have been committed by him earlier, pushes away any person who wants to save him from getting further suffering or immersed. The Lord who is equally disposed towards everyone grants fruits to the jeevathma according to PuNya and paapa. If there is any good deed done by the Jeevathma even inadvertently, the Lord grants fruit to the good deed without making it to go waste. Other upakaarams – we will enjoy tomorrow AsmadhAchArya paryanthAm vandhE GuruparamparAm Regards Namo Narayana dasan
