Guest guest
SrI: SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya nama: Dearest all, The Lord is extremely merciful and helps us in very many ways. His upakaarams are numerous. Even our mere existence is His grace… He can simply say: That’s it and close the show..”. It is His mercy that he is giving us a chance to think and rectify ourselves Let us enjoy Swami Desikan’s upakara sangraham. Swami enlists further upakaarams of the Lord in his upakaara sangraham. 1. propagation of Vedas through four headed BrahmA before the Creation of the Universe. 2. Propagation of Epics like Srimad Ramayana, Mahabharatha and PuraaNaas through Sages which explain clearly the meaning of Vedas. 3. Creation of Guru- Paramapara to preach the Veda through Saasthras to the proper disciples 4. When the people in the world get illusioned with the spread of several religions and philosophies opposed to the Vedas the Lord took incarnation of Dattatreya and took sanyaasa and saved Vedas. 5. Propagation of the meanings of Vedas to the people through AzhwArs and Acharyas. 6. wherever there is a decline in the performance of Dharma, to get rid of the wicked people and to protect good people, taking the incarnations [avathArams] in this world in theform of Sri Rama and Sri Krishna et al, and attracting people by the beauty of His divine Body and correcting the people by preachings like Srimad Bhagavad Gita and divine actions also. 7. When we have committed endless sins, making us to take birth as stationery objects like trees creatures and animals which cannot perform religious rites as stipulated in scriptures 8. Making us to be born in the families observing Sri Ramanuja sampradaya which is the unparalleled and unambiguous one. 9. Making our minds not getting influenced by other religions like Buddism, Jainism, VaishEshika, Charvaaka and Saankhya etc. which are opposed to Vedic religion and philosophy. 10. To approach a good SadAchAryan there are six requirements, affection [sankalpa] of the Lord, inadvertently [atleast] doing a good deed, Lord’s grace, meeting sath people [good people], and talking with them on sath vishayams.; making an individual to approach a sadAchArya by fulfilling the above six requirements. 11. Making the individual the target of the grace of the SadhAchArya. 12. Removing from our minds the evil thoughts like I myself am the God [swathanthra bhramam]; and I will not bow down to others. 13. Just like Arjuna listened to the teachings of Bhagavd Gita by Lord Sri Krishna with rapt attention, the preachings if SadAcharyan. 14. Making an individual get the upadesa of the three divine mantras from SadhAchAryan. 15. Showing the Supreme Being as the Lord Sriman Narayanan [Para tattva], Saranagati as the Supreme Means [Parama hitham]. mOksha or eternal Bliss and eternal service at SrivaikuNtam is the Supreme Goal [Parama Purushartham] 16. Seeing that the atheistic [naasthika] thought does not enter into the mind of ours nor influenced by anybody. 17. Making us to develop an unshakeable desire to attain moksham and making us to get detached from the worldly desires and from the desire to attain heaven, which are also short-lived and transitory attainments 18. Making us not becoming devoted towards other Gods [devathAnthara Bhramam] other than the Only One Supreme Lordship Sriman Narayanan. 19. Granting the will to an individual and giving me a thought towards performance of Saranagati at His Lotus Feet to attract His Grace. [The upakarams - as extracted from the wrote up by Sri U Ve Anantha Narasimhachariar Swami, Srirangam.] With all these upakaarams done by the Lord, the Jeevathma [we] decide to approach the SadhAchAryan who comes in this most wonderful Acharya Lineage of Srivaishnava acharyas. Let us begin to enjoy the Guruparampara / Acharya and AzhwArs’ glories in subsequent posts..
