Dear sishyas and abhimaanis of Srimad Paravakkottai

Gopala Maha Desikan:

 

I had known about our Acharya through my father. He

had been in contact with Acharya for a number of years

and received blessings from him. My father passed away

in 2002. I visited the ashramam soon after this. Our

Acharyan showed me the last letter written by my

father and also read out its contents. Only then I

realized how much counseling and solace my father had

received from Asmad Andavan. Sometimes I had wondered

" why father is doing this ? and why he is doing it

this way? " It all became clear at that time. My

father had explicitly obeyed

whatever Asmad Acharyan has told him to do. I felt

glad my father asked me few years before his passing

away to have Samashrayanam done by His Holiness.

 

adiyen would like to share with you my experiences

when I got Samashrayanam (in 1995) from our Acharya:

 

My father sent a reply paid telegram to the Ashramam

requesting HH to do Samashrayanam for me and my wife.

HH had consented and sent a reply asking us to come to

the Ashramam the previous night and sleep there. It

would be easier to bathe in Kollidam and do the

rituals. Unfortunately the telegram did not reach us.

My wife and I with my mother and father in law reached

Tiruchi the previous evening. We stayed

in Tiruchy.Next morning we took bath and in

'swaroopam' we reached the Ashramam.

 

We were greeted by Sri Tathu and his wife at the

Ashramam. They were taking care of Swamy's needs in

the ashramam at that time. They asked us " Why did you

not come the previous night?. Swamy was expecting you.

 

 

HH is busy with his anushtaanam. He has an upanyasam

scheduled at 10 a.m. It is doubtful if he has time to

do Samashrayanam for you " . We were disappointed to

hear this. They informed HH. HH came in few minutes,

enquired about our welfare. We told him we did not

receive the telegram. After seeing us HH asked adiyen

" kaapi mathiram thaanE saappitttu vandhE? " [adiyen

usually drinks coffee in the morning. That day somehow

I did not drink coffee because it was late and I could

not get coffee. Later on only I came to know that

Samashrayanam is to be done on an empty stomach and HH

will not do this if we had even coffee in the

morning]. adiyen said 'no'.

 

Then HH asked me if I am doing Sandhyaavandanam

regularly. At that time I was not doing it regularly.

I said no.

 

HH asked me to promise that I will do trikaala

Sandhyaavandanam everyday. I made the promise. [Now

only I realize adiyen's bhagyam and HH's kindness. HH

has refused this to so many on getting 'no' for an

answer.]

 

After that only HH asked us Sri Tathu to arrange for

the barber for me and buying the necessary materials

for Sudharshana homam. HH then asked us to go to

Kollidam and have bath etc. [Taking bath outside is

not acceptable to HH].

 

HH did deliver his talk on that day as scheduled. He

did Samashrayanam for adiyen and my sahadharmini and

also my mother in law. My mother in law had

hesitatingly requested HH to do Samashrayanam for her

since my father in law had not done it and also their

family Acharya was not known. HH very gracefully

consented. adiyen's sahadharmini and mother in law had

Bharanyaasam under HH later. HH spent about an hour

and a half with us explaining the Samashrayanam

and the need to worship only Sriman Naaraayanan and no

other deity. By the time everything was done it was 2

p.m. HH had told Sri Tathu's wife to give us warm milk

at that time. While giving us milk, she told us that

we have delayed HH's ahaaram.

 

It was well past 2 p.m. HH did not say anything to us

knowing it was getting late. At that time only we

realized we have put HH into great difficulty by not

coming the previous evening. HH had concern for us

getting hungry but did not hurry the procedures

even though it was getting late for his only meal of

the day.[surprisingly adiyen who can not remain

without food till 2 p.m. and that too without coffee

did not feel hungry or wanting to eat anything! It is

all due to HH's anugraham and aseervadham. Or is it

just the nearness to one who is closer to God that

made me not think about food?]

 

Whenever I think of this I am moved. HH showed me on

that day " thiruthi paNi koLvaan " . We are all blessed

to have an Acharya like him. HH gave us some books and

also the Sandhyaavandanam book.

 

adiyen's experiences while getting Bharanyaasam from

HH in 2004 was much more than this. May be I can write

about it later.

 

It is adiyEn bhaagyam that I am blessed to the

recipient of His Holiness dayai and infinite mercy

Swami is verily a God for me and my family..
