Dear Sriman Sadagopachar Swamin, very pleasure to read your note after long since.thanks,Now below are my own views, it can be accepted or rejected according to one's own will and wish.1. We have to respect our great HH Acharyas recommendations on any subject.

2. At the same time we have fate to live with others who have no snana praapti and hence no respect with our Acharyas and shastras. Here I am not only mentioning other community by  the word 'Others' but also our own (shareera) relatives, with whom we made such a relationship like 'Sambandhi', 'Maappillai' (Jaamaata dashamo graha:) etc. They may be belong to other Sampradhaayam. They will not easily allow us to go through the path shown by our Acharyas.

3. Deepavali is not an individual Anushtanam to do it personally. It should be celebrated with many group of people.4. We have inter relationship with other sect of people belong to other Sampradhaayams like 'Madam, Munitrayam, Swayamacharya, Thennachar' etc. We could not create a common opinion even among our different sampradhaayic people under the Iyengar category.

5. As per statistics Iyengars are very very less percentage out of Brahmins and out of Iyengars very less percentage of people are having relation with Acharyas. Out of those little percentage of shisyas of various Acharyas very very less percentage of people are reading the articles published through magazines released from different Acharya peetams.

6. Deepavali is not a ritual (not listed under nithya or naimithikam), it is seen as a festival by all. All major almanacs have been released several months ago with the information " 17th October Saturday - Deepavai Pandigai, Lakshmi Kubera poojai "   and hence all the Central and State Government and all major private organizations have been declared the festival leave on 17th October. By that, most of our peoples have planned and booked their journey ticket to conform a comfortable journey. So, more than 90% people in the world are going to celebrate the Deepavali on 17th October only.

7. 15th November falls on Sunday and hence no chance for special festival leave, 17th October falls on Saturday hence there is a chance for getting festival leave on 16th Friday. Most of our people will not wish to leave this advantage.

8. Mostly Deepavali Pandigai is celebrated for and by the children with limitless enthusiasm; hence we can not put them in disappointment when the whole world is celebrating! At the same time we can not travel for a long distance twice for the same reason.

We can list more and more points on this matter. Conclusion :1) Thaila snanam and Vishesha Aaradhanam are the motive of our Acharyas on Deepavali day. So, we can perform them, wherever we will be on 15th November also in a very ritualistic manner which is not against shastras.

2) So, we can celebrate the Deepavali on 17th October with our relatives as planned in a festive manner to satisfy our children, all our neighbors and others.  Note: We should submit our humble request to the Vidwans who are managing the Panchanga matters for the magazines published from Madams, Ashramams to calculate and declare the dates for important events well in advance atleast an year before.

I humbly request you and all to forgive if you find any mistake in this matter.regards,dhanyosmi,dasan,nvs2009/9/10 Dr.V.Sadagopan <yennappan

Dear All : attached herewith is a four page article form Sri Nrisimha PriyA journal( August 2009) and at the end it is recommended that all of us follow the Nov dates(14/15) for DeepAvaLi this year instead of October 16/17 , 2009 .

This year is a special year , where Sri Matam has assessed that Tula ( Iyppasi) Aasvayujam is the date for observing DeepAvaLi naraka chathurdaSi snAnam instead of Purattasi AaSvayujam ( October 16/17).

1963 was another year such a situation happened before and possibly once more in the Eighties . Please refer to the Sri Nrismha PriyA DVD containing all articles from the years 1945-2005 ( PANCHaNGAM SECTION).

It is possible that other AchAryAs /PanchAngam Creators might have decided in Favor of the above October date for celebrating deepAvaLi

FOLLOWING OTHER COMPUTATIONS/DETERMINATIONS .

Sri Matam SishyAs are requested however to observe November 14/15 as the DeepAvaLi snAnam/PaNdikai dates .Please check with your own AchAyAs on the dates that they recommend among the two sets .

Iyppasi Month KrishNa Chathurdasi snAnam destroys narakam for those who seek Moksham ( Mumukshu) and is therefore called Naraka (vimOchana) chathurdaSi snAnam . This is the day , when Lord KrishNa destroyed NarakAsuran and the asuran sought the boon form the Lord

during his last moments that his day of death be celebrated as a PaNDikai

dinam and our Lord granted him that boon. This snAnam should be done only on ChathurdaSi day and not on TrayOdasi or AmAvAsyai day .

On the evening of DheepAvaLi day , rows of lamps ( Dheepa AavaLi) are lit in Bhagavath sanidhAnam according to Saastrams .

DheepAvaLi is not to be observed on SrAddham days , theetu days .

SannidhAnam .

PramANams from Ahnika Grantams are quoted in the above four pages.

NamO SrI NrisimhAya,

V.Sadagopan
