You Are My Friend

thOzhan nE!enakku

One would always be liked to be termed as being closed to a prominent/popular/elevated persons. This is seen in the World.

How will it be if the Highest person declares/proclaims that He is the friend of an ordinary human being. That will be the height of saulabhyam. We can never see this in the contemporary world among the mortals. The spirit of the power/seat is replaced by the attraction and goes to one's head and we seldom see such mahAn-s.

Sri chakravarthith thiru-magan did not spurn sri guhap-perumAL despite his minus points.

What are these?

yEAzhai- was -ignorant/submerged in the mundane world-yEAzhai.

yEAdhalan-->He did not ignore him though he had no nexus in any way whatsover with the Lord. The basic duty of a kshathriyA was being saviour. On the contrary, the primary role of a vEdan is killing. yEAdhalan.

kEzh magan--> Low birth.

sri rAmA blessed Him.

He introduced sri sEthA pirATTi as His thOzhi.

His brother as sri guHA's brother.

At this stage He should have told that He was His friend - I am your friend. But He did not stop at that:

With full pleasure perumAL spelt out

"thOzhan nE enakku ! "

"Oh! you are my friend" were the divine words.

that is why it is mentioned categorically in srEvachana bhUshaNam

"sRe guhap perumALukku thEmai thAnEa nanmai Aithu" 145

First sri rAmA overlooked the negatives; Next He introduced pirATTi as guhA's thOzhi; Thereafter, declares that sri guhA's brother iLaya-perumAL is His brother and did He stop at that: Proclaims that sri guhA is His friend-with full of happiness and joy.

That is height of saulabyam.

This height of saulabyam is excellently narrated in the first pAsuram

'YEAzhai, yEadhalan, kEzh-magan -ennAdhu irangi, maRRAvarkku innaruL surandhu,

mAzhai mAn mada nOkki vun thOzhi, vumbi embi, enRu ozhindhilai,

vugandhu thOzhan nE! enakku, enRa soRkaL vandhida.." 5-8-1;

Such Divine words from the Supreme

"thOzhan nE! enakku'
