Guest guest
vaasitham syaath vanam sarvam suputhreNa kulam yaThaa The whole forest, sarvam vanam, becomes fragrant , vaasitham, by one good tree, ekena suvrksheNa, which puts forth fragrant flowers, pushpithena suganDhinaa, just as, yaThaa, by one virtuous son, suputhreNa, the whole clan, kulam, (becomes illustrious. ) The Raghuvamsa is extolled because Ramaa was born in it and so is Yadhuvamsa by Krishna. The whole clan becomes praiseworthy by one illustrious descendent born in it. 7. varam eko guNee puthro na moorkha Sathanyapi ekaH chandhraH thamo hanthi na cha tharaagaNaih api; One son, eko puthraH, who is virtuous, guNee, is better than, varam, a hundred who are of bad character, moorkha Sathaani api. One moon, ekaH chandhraH, is able to dispel darkness, thamo hanthi, but numerous stars, thaaraaganaiH api, could not do so. In ikshvaku vamsa, the king Sagara had 100 sons through one wife who were arrogant and were destroyed by Kapila while Amsuman, the son of other wife was good and virtuous who had Bhageet ratha who brought Ganges down and redeemed his 100 uncles by it. The hundred sons of Dhratharashtra were destroyed due to their bad character showing that the quality and not quantity matters most.
