Guest guest
Namaskarams The difference in the colors of shri choornam depends on the lineage the person belongs to and the samprayadam being followed. In general , All Thenkalai iyengars wear the Red Srichoornam and Vadagalai Iyengars wear the Yellow Srichoornam Adiyen Sridhar sesh918 <sesh wrote: I see iyengars having yellow Srichoornam. I was given to understand earlier that red was the one to wear , as it represented Sri meaning goddess Lakshmi. Even noted scholars & vedic pundits have this distinct yellow Srisoornam & white thiruman Kaappu. would some one explain the justification / necessity of this difference. Who are the people eligible to wear the yellow Srisoornam? Thanks Dasan Srinivasan Seshadri ******* This question was replied by Shri.Ue.Ve.Mannargudi Desikachar in a recent issue of 'Ranganatha Padhuka', I will post the answer in this group soon. *******Now I got it: The question was : " Manjal srichurnam ittukkolvadhan murai thathparyam enna? " The Answer was : " Manjal podithan srichurnam - adhil elumichai rasaththai kalandhal sigappu srichurnam, aaha manjalal thayarikkappattathaiththan lakshmi sthanathil tharikkirom, avvidham veluppana thirumannai bhagavanin sthanamak kondu tharikkirom " Translation in English: " Srichurnam " is nothing but the Turmeric yellow powder. When lemon juice is added it becomes red. Mixing of lemon is optional. Thiruman represents - perumal where srichurnam represents thayar. *********Moderator -----------------I am here to help you ever ----------------------- To Post a message, send it to: vaideekam To Leave this group send a message to: vaideekam- ---------------------------Access Trouble? ------------------------- Be active member, Use all the features: Chat, Files, Photos, Links, Polls, calander.
