Guest guest
Kamokaarsheeth Japam Note:- All grahasthas and brahmacharies should do "Kamokarsheeth Japam" Except the first upakarma (prathama upakarma) boys. I hope that you know why brahmins are wearing the yagnopaveetham? The reason is there in the manthram itself. I.e, 'Chrowdha, smartha vidhi vihitha nithya karma anushtana yogyadha sidhyartham' means : all brahmins should abide by the rules made by the rushis called sastrams. Sastrams are ordering us to do the two types of karmas 1. Chrowdha karma 2. Smartha Karma. To get the eligibility to do those karma one should wear the yagnopaveetham. If he is a grahasthan then he should wear the second poonal also. I believe that the second poonal is instructed to a grahasthan on behalf of his wife. Because 50% of punyam earned by a man will be transfered to his wife automatically. You may think that 50% of papam also will go to his wife? isn't it? But that is not correct. As per sastram not a bit of papam will go to his wife earned by a man by himself. But, in other way he should bear the 50% of papam earned by his wife when there is no share in her punyam?! Now why should we do the Kamokarsheeth japam? Every year we are doing Upakarma and at the end we are begining the vedham by chanting vedha aarambham. But we are not ending it any where. Actually it should be ended in the month of 'Thai - Powrnami' every year. So as a prayachitham for this mistake we are doing the 'kamokarsheeth japam'. Now you can understand that, why a new boy is not required to do this? Now go through the sankalpam for Kamokaarsheeth japam:- Sri bhagavadhagnaya sriman narayana preethyartham or bhagavath kainkaryam "thaishyam - powrnamasyam - adhyaya - udhsarjana - akarana - prayachiththartham - Ashtothra Sahasra (for 1008 times) / Ashtothra sadha (for 108 times) - sankyaya - 'Kamokaarsheeth - manyura kaarsheeth' - idhi - manthra - japam - karishye! Do tell this manthram repeatedly for 1008 times or 108 times whichever is your option of sankalpam. Do not use the bits of dharbhams for counting. Use only the lines in the fingers to count. Do not talk with anybody for any reason while doing any japam. At the end of the japam, stand up and say : "Kamokaarsheeth Manyurakaarsheeth Namo nama:(ha)" and do namaskaram one time only if you are thenkalai and four times if you are vadakalai. Put the pavithram in the right ear and do achamanam twice. Unknot the pavithram if you have one more to use in the next step "Kandarushi Tharpanam".
