Guest guest
Dear mama Namaskarams Re: Oilbath. - discussions. On our forefathers(mothers) annual ceremoney days (srardham) we used to give oil for bathing to the Brahmins who participate (i think it is discontinued mostly). Can you please enlighten on this? (of course many olden customes proceidures are being curtailed at present). Namaskarams ***Mdr*** Dear Murali, Nallavelai adhai Gnyaapaka paduthineerkal, adhu oru vizhayam namakku therinchadhaache?! But, actually, giving oil and 'seekaai podi' in chradham, the purpose is not explained in the prayogam books, the shodasa upacharam should be done to the brahmanas invited for the chradham. 'Snanam' is one of the Upacharam out of sixteen. At the time of giving the oil and seekaipodi, we should say (it is only in sapindeekarna prayogam, not in chradham) " Sareera sudhyartham idham abhyanjanam " meaning : sareera sudhathirkaha Ennai " Snaanaartham idham udhvardhanam " meaning : snaanam pannuvadharkaha seeikaipodi. that is all about it in the vaideeka prayogam, I got plenty of books, I should see some where it has been discussed. best regards, continue to argue or take another subject.
