Guest guest
Dear mama Kindly explain the following philosophy of our customs though everyone does it regularly. 1. Temple pradarshan (koil sutru) 2. How many pradarshan we have to do for Lord Krishna/perumal temple and afterwards what for we are sitting in temple for some time. 3. Philosophy of Perumal Aarthi. Though you may feel this as very silly question, I am ignorant/innocent about many of our customs. Kindly explain me. With Pranams. Soundara Rajan Jamnagar [The below answers had been prepared yesterday night itself. But there in no current till today morning. Today I performed a big Sudharsanam Homam for Shri.T.N.Seshagopalan now by 2 pme I am sending the previously composed message, I not yet checked any other messages. This is for your information.] ***Mdr*** Dear Mr. Soundara Rajan, Have you ever dharshan the God who's name you have? O K I wish to give the answeres for your question in the reverse order. Ans: 3. I hope that you are asking about the " Deepa Haarathi " or " Karpoora Haarathi " . If it is your question, the answer is: The prayoga sutrakarals had created a procedure to perform poojas to God or devadas. On those procedure they put sixteen items to render as upacharams. they are : 1. Argyam (For now I don't have time to explain every upacharam. ) 2. Padhyam 3. Achamaneeyam 4. Snanam 5. Vasthram 6. Uththareeyam 7. Alankaram 8. Upaveetham 9. Aaparanam 10. Doopam 11. Deepam (Haarathi) 12. (Maha) Naivedhyam 13. Paaneeyam 14. Swarna pushpam 15. Manthra pushpam 16. (Pradhakshina) Namaskarams There are many different slokas to perform the each step of upacharam for different Gods. But the basic name and concept of the upacharam is same. Some upacharams like achamaneeyam, deepam will take place more than one time. Now performing Haarathi is for two purposes : 1. As a upacharam as given above. 2. There will be no electrict lights (even today in some temples) in the Moolavar sannidhi, we can see the Perumal 'Thiru meni' only with the Haarathi light. Still archagas will prompt you like " Thiruvadi sevaiyaradha, nanna sevichukkongo " nu Haarathi Kamichu kezhpaal. Ans: 2. Usually 3 pradhakshanam will be correct for all Gods, but there is difference from one to nine pradhakshanams for different gods. Later I try to give the exact list. (Now there is no (power)light, I am doing this with the battery Haarathy on keyboard moorthi of Laptop perumal). Ans : 3. At the end of any pooja, with some flowers and akshathai in the hands, the prohit will ask us to do 3 pradhakshanams by saying " Yani Kaanicha paaphaani janmaanthra kruthaanicha, thaani thaani vinayschandhi pradhakshina padhe padhe " .................... Swmine namaha Pradhakshina namaskaaran samarpayami. then should offer the flowers and akshathai on the gods, idol or picture and should do namaskaram. So, from this we could understand that pradhakshanam is required to end our pooja proceture at any pooja. When we are doing Amavasai Tharpanam at the end we are doing pradhakshinam of the plate(thaambaalam). Whe we are doing chradham we are doing pradhakshinam the swamins at the end of the chradham. When we are going for dharshan to a temple, at the end we are doing pradhakshinam and namaskaram as the completion of our pooja. Also the big praakarams are built to use this proceture to turn as an exercise to bhakthas which is good for their health. We can say (or write an special article on this subject) many more advantages but it is enough for now. Ans for second part of your second question :- You should knwo something that you should sit in the Perumal temple after the end of pradhakshanam. It is adviced to do only at sivan koils. Becaue, sivan's staying place is called 'Rudhra bhoomi' where evil devil will also stay, some of the devils may with him in the temple also, that devils may follow us if we go directly to our home. To avoid those devils we should stay for while at the exit of sivan koils not in perumal koils. This was told by my mother very long back. best regards, moderator
Guest guest
mama, as you have said it is for the purpse of exercise that we have ben asked to do pradakhinam in the temple!! i am a phyiotherapist by profession and i would like to share a few concepts that i think have evolved for a specific reason!!! 1)when ever we go to a temple we are supposed to do a toppu karanam near pillayar...this one is called as a closed kinematic exercise to the thigh muscles and if it is done from child hood,it might prevent one from gettin knee pain at the later stage but starting it at elderly age might not be advisable as it causes a lot of stress in the joint. 2)we are supposed to put a kumbidu by lifting our hands above our head so that we are actually stretching our shoulder muscles which will prevent us from getting frozen shoulder a problem in which one has difficulty in lifting the shoulder above. 3)we arwe supposed to do adi pradakshinam.this actully is a ifficult task and is supposed to improve our coordination bygiving a good exercise to the part of brain called cerebellum which has to activate the act of adi pradakshinam. and as mama has said its true that prahakshinam hs been said to give a good exercise to the body. 4)when one enters into the garbagriha, it will usually be said tappu tappunu kannathula pottuko!! actuallu the fact of tapping th cheks is supposed to improve our concentration so that we will be thinking abou god and noone else!! 5)and karpooram othikaradu kooda mugathula paru varama irukka dan appadinnu solli kelvi patu irukken..enna sidda maruthuva padi pacha karpoorathai paruvila tdavina vadu varadunnu padichada niyabagam...ana adu enda alavukku unmainnu teriyale.. 6) apparam nam namaskaaram pandrom illaya?adula kooda bayangara vihyam irukku...actualla purusha namaskaaram pandradu vandu oru push up madii...adavau kaila udamboda weight pottu elundukkanum..illaya?ida en padromna namma kaikku pinnala irukka muscle sadaranama namma use padradu illa.adanala inda namaskaram panni ada use pannikarom . pomnattigal mutti pottu udambaikeela kondu poi talaiyala taraiya todum bodu garbapaiya support panni irukka musclekku velai konjam kuraium.adanaala uterus prolapse varadukkana chance kuraiyum. and there are lots more... i have tried to say all the things with out including any medical terms.but if there are any then please forgive and you can always ask for a clrification!! and more han anything these are only my guesses.if there are any comments may it be positive or negative they are welcome!!! waiting for feed back, murali. ***Mdr*** Naan thani aarticlethan ezhudhanumnu solli mudichadha ivaru azhagha complete pannitaaru, innum irukkunnu theriyaradhu, so, naaludhunnu therinja porum ahudhan namakku vendiyadhu.
