This would certainly help srivaishnavites particularly those who are abroad to do the upakarma properly. But in the sankalpam for Gayathri Japam on 20th Aug, it is mentioned - perhaps inadvertantly - SAMVATHSARAM AS THARANAM instead of PARTHIPA as mentioned correctly in the sankalpam for upakarma. May I therefore request your confirmation by a mail to all our members so that they may correctly chant. Adiyean is one of the many members who regularly receive your mails and am being benefited. Please continue to keep posting such lokakksheamartha mails for the benefit of members in general and srivaishnavites in particular. He had also prepared an audio file of the entire procedure. From my limited understanding, the only real difference between the Iyengar and Iyer procedure would be in the sankalpam where " ShrI bhagavadAjnyA, shrIman nArAyaNa prItyartham/bhagavat kainkarya rUpam " would be replaced with " mamOpAtta samasta duritakshayadvAra shrI paramEshwara prItyartham " and the Vadagalai guru-parampara shlokas " shrIman vEnkaTa nAthAryaH " , " gurubhyas tad " , etc. would not be in the Iyer version. Perhaps also Iyers don't recite Vishwaksena shloka " yasya dvirada " ? Request learned members to comment? Maama should be able to help you.
